UPDATE BELOW: THESE WILL BE READY THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 15TH. PICS BELOW

Hello all:

I had factory caps made to spec with the stock 18" wheel set that I'm putting together. I just received word that these will be shipping to me within the next 3 weeks. I will have samples to post up and send out to a few guys on the board on the 28th of this month. They are exact spec, same weight (within a few grams), same machined stock face, and are as close the the same color as the original caps. I don't know how many I will have left on the first batch (I'm estimating somewhere in the 17-21 set range after I account for the sets that are spoken for already). Price for the first batch will be 75.00 per cap (300.00) per set. After the first batch they will be going up to 95.00 per cap. I will have these listed on my new website when it launches for purchase on the second batch. As for anyone who wants to reserve a set, I will post up here. When they get to me and after you see pics mounted and these have been reviewed then I will ship after payment received if you still want them. I only have a small amount of sets that are blanks for custom engraving. I do not engrave. In the thread, please specify if you want blanks. Again there will only be a handful and I will update thread when and if we reach that point. I will be sending out a set to Jimmy and Renz so they can make a review on their own. Shipping will be a flat fee of 20.00 anywhere in the US.

Re: Factory New Caps

I'm interested. Put me down for a set. Blanks for me or I'd prefer caps with Syclone on them.

If you click on the second photo, below, you will see the same machining lines of the originals are retained. These caps are truly exact spec.

They look real nice, only suggestion I have is that if you have a glass bead blaster, hit the engraving with it to remove the cutter marks and then cut the face on the lathe. This will give it a Stock cast appearance. This is what I do when I do my engraving. It also helps with paint adhesion. This is what I did to the diff cover I did for you. Example:

Engraved with cutter marks:

Glass Bead Blasted:

Thanks, when we get a chance this weekend we are going to work on a few sets. Tested fitment with the rubber rings and they are 100% on point! No issues.

This right here. You can get everything right if you just pay attention.

Your caps are 99% correct.

100% is bank.

Re: Factory New Caps

I could be wrong but I think the correct way is to machine GMC last.

No, ideally what you want to do is leave .003-.004 on the finish face, engrave the letters and glass bead blast to remove cutter marks and give it a "cast" appearance. Then take a finish cut on the face to achieve the correct surface finish which will remove the bead blast overspray. The surface finish is a coarse lathe turn, it will take some practice cuts to get the feed rate correct to get the correct grain.

Well I also had a bunch of sets with no engraving at all. I definitely want to send some out to you to get Syclone and typhoon engraved

We can definitely help you with the engraving, we would need to know the surface radius to project the engraving onto, the engraving is on a curve. We can't re-cut the face, we don't have a CNC lathe. The people who made the caps should also be able to do the engraving, if they need the font or other help with it let me know. Don't mind helping with this.
