installed a set of composite flex-a-form springs 245 rate 3 months ago. was looking under ty today pass. side leaf is split, twisted, cracked, right by where the exhaust pipe goes over. i have 1" lowering blocks, 11" zr1 style wheels on back & a suspension tech. sway bar, the manufacturer says the sway bar may be putting to much pressure on spring!! has anyone heard of similar problem, thanks, as of today they said they will send me a new spring, anyone have any thoughts on what caused this breakage,

When you install the composite springs, you need to make ABSOLUTELY sure nothing will hit them as your axle goes up and down. If the spring cracked where the exhaust pipe crosses it, then the exhaust pipe is the most likely culprit. The heat from the exhaust will weaken the fiberglass (if the exhaust is too close), and pushing the exhaust pipe up creates a unintended point load on the spring. Check the spring to see if there is a mark or dimple from the exhaust pipe.

You may need to remount the swaybar end link mounts to provide extra clearance above the spring.

Also, consider removing the lowering blocks. The blocks add a lot of extra torque load on the springs. Combined with the load from the exhaust, they may have been too much for the spring.

the exhaust was about 4"s away before the spring broke, sway bar was clear also, will remove lowering block & see if that makes a differance, thanks, they recommend no sway bar or lowering blocks

I know George recommends against the swaybar because he feels his springs are all you need. However, I've had the flex-a-forms for over two years now with the Susp.Tech. rear bar, and haven't had any problems (including two trips to the Nats and lots of 1/4 runs).

However, I'm fairly certain your lowering blocks were a contributing factor. There are people on the list who have actually broken the stock springs with lowering blocks.

You'll need to get a longer center spring bolt. A 4x4 truck shop will have them or you can use a allen head cap screw.
