front differential

hi all
does anyone have a hollander inteerchange or personal experience changing out a front diff for a non syty unit?
i wanna keep the awd as is; i just need to replace or rebuild (rather just replace) the front end.
i believe something can be switched to make it all happy...
anyone?
thanks very much
happy holidays to all

You can use the 4X4 diff. Just make sure the gear ratios are the same and use the passenger side axle tube.

I received your check today.

hey, thanks on both counts!
is there any kinda issue regarding some deal with part vs. full time?
i recall a thread where someone was actually gonna make it doable...
if it's ok with you, i am gonna have ya ship the heads straight to my machine shop (porting).
if so, email me and i'll give ya address - i actually don't have it here at home - gotta pull it outta my work pc.
thnaks again
mike

If you bolt in a 4X4 diff and passenger side inner axle and tube it might work. I've thought of it before just so I can do the occasional burnout.
The 4X4 front diff has a shift cable connected to a vaccuum actuator. I think it would be neat to connect it to a electric solenoid so you could engage it at will. I would also like a shiftable transfer case to eliminate drag on long trips. Unfortunately money doesn't grow on trees.

If my front diff dies I may look into it more. Very cool last year at the Nats seeing the Odd-Ty do a 2wd burnout and then launch AWD

thats kinda what i'm thinking - a hobbs switch to engage it at 1psi, for ex...but with overide for snow, etc.
question is - can it take being engaged under load?
