front drive shaft lube

i need to lube my front drive shaft on my ty. i had it up on my grease rack and was looking at it from underneath. what a bitch! i was going to also do a trans service and thought if i had the crossmember out of the way i could lube the cv joint with a needle fitting. anybody try this yet?

update, pos ty. the needle fitting was too small. had to pull the front shaft. at least the bolts weren't supper tight. got lucky as it was not dry.
