Front tire rub

Lots of posts about ZR1 wheels but few comments about front tire rub. Will these wheels with 275 tires on 9.5" wheels rub anywhere? If so, where and at full lock? Can anything be done to fix the rubbing? What about a lowered suspension? I would like to know the downsides before laying down the dollars on tires and wheels.

Yes, the will rub at full lock. Someone here wrote something up about drilling and tapping a hole in the stop on the control arm, and putting a bolt in it to effectively make the stop bigger, so they wouldn't rub.

To be more precise, the rim will contact the forward facing area of the upper control arm at full lock. There is a "rib" of metal on the control arm that some have ground down to prevent the contact, but "V" from Hawaii had a great "how to" written up that is a better option, as Bill notes. You can email "V" at: zr9@hawaii.rr.com and ask him for the pics of the steering stop mod he did....

I also did the bolt deal. It was easy to see if you just mount the rims without tires on both side while jacked up and you'll be able to see where to drill, tap and install the bolt. It was alot easier than hacking the control arm up and you can adjust the bolt for how much steering stop you want.
