Fuel Pressure Question?

I fitted a fuel pressure gauge today and it was running at 43psi at idle which is ok but when i turn the engine off the fuel pressure drops quite quickly. Is this normal as i thought the pressure would stay in the system?:dunno:

Re: Fuel Pressure Question?

You have a leak somewhere ! Check the gauge connections, pull the vacume hose off FPR , any fuel in it, if yes then its leaking, also check fuel rail for leaks, if thats okay, then you have a one or more leaking injectors.

it can also be in the feulpump. i had this problem, swapped injectors. and still have the problem. i woudln't worry about it if you checked for leaks outside the system.

Re: Fuel Pressure Question?

Barring any obvious leaks from lines or hoses, it could be the fuel pressure regulator, an injector(s) stuck open or a fuel pump problem. DaveP detailed the troubleshooting process in great detail in post #52 of this thread.

Re: Fuel Pressure Question?

What is normal for fuel pressure at idle? What is acceptable fuel pressure drop after shutting down?
