Fuel pump crapping out? Need help, wife is pissed

Here's the problem, while driving home on the freeway last night, I noticed my truck stumbling a little on tip-in throttle. A/F gage showed truck leaning out. Get off freeway, and truck really starts stumbling while A/F gage goes leaner and leaner. Pull over, truck continues to lean until it dies. I let it sit a few minutes, truck fires right up, pull back onto road but immediately starts to lean out and I have to pull off again when it dies. Truck fired up again and was able to drive it onto trailer.

My thoughts are failing fuel pump? I have not had a chance to hook up FP gage yet. Is there something else I might check if pressure is OK? I have got to figure this out, as every single vehicle in my signature is not running for various reasons and wife is getting PISSED about it. Then to top it off, her car had a tire going flat this morning...not a pleasant situation.

Sure sounds like the pump to me Corbin. Try jumping 12v to the gray wire by the distributor and see if it kicks on. A gauge on the rail will help tell you where the pressure is too.

Hey, on a side note, I think the Buick Nationals are comming to Norwalk soon, you goin? (if you have a running car by then)

OK Brian, I"ll give it a shot. No Norwalk for me, the Buicks were up there last weekend and I missed it...just like I missed the Buicks at Beech Bend bc the car wasn't running.

Well I hooked up the FP gage and let the truck idle for probably an hour, then took it for a short drive. Fuel pressure is steady, but I cannot get the truck to duplicate the lean condition it had.

I did notice that DM was showing a constant DTC 35 for the IAC, although the CEL was not coming on. Could a bad IAC cause these symptoms? I'm not sure what to check next.

Might be the fuel pump is only acting up when it is heat soaked (after a longer drive, maybe less than 1/4 tank of fuel etc)

Well that's a thought. It was also around 90 degrees outside when the truck acted up, and only in the 60s when I was testing it.

It's driving me nuts too. My stock pump went bad last year and now I'm going on my THIRD Walbro. My first 2 died completely. The third one is behaving exactly as you stated. After driving for 30 minutes it dies. Then it cools down and runs ok.
