Fuel Sending Unit Problem

I just bought this Typhoon about a week ago. The previous owner had a high pressure fuel pump put in and since then the fuel gauge did not work. I decided to take a look and see what was going on with it so I dropped the tank last nite. The sending unit arm that holds the float was out of the sending unit. So I reinstalled the arm and put the unit back in, and now the gas gauge reads full all the time. Is the sender junk? I checked the arm and it looked like it was free and not interfering with anything. My other problem is if the sending unit is junk, I need the replace the rubber and maybe the metal fuel lines because all the hard lines out of the sender were replaced with rubber fuel line and hose clamps. Let me know what you guys think. I thought I saw somewhere you can get a sending unit with an upgraded fuel pump in it. I looked at a couple of vendors and couldn't find anything. Sorry about the book.

I paid special attention to make sure the ground was clean. I will check it again when I get a chance. The only ground is the two wires coming out of the sending unit correct?

The rear wiring ground should be attached to the same bolt. At least mine was. It has one of those star washers on it to dig into the frame.
