does anyone know approx. how close g tech times are to actual e.t. slips from track on any of their trucks

It's actually suprisingly accurate. I've heard people clocking them with it while their at the track, and having it never be more than a tenth off. All the distance, timed, and g-force measurements on it I think are very accurate. The horsepower measurements however is another story.

if you can find a 100% flat road, it should be pretty accurate. any incline or slope will give you false results.

Re: g tech accuracy ?

Robert here in sweden do all his testing with the G-tec and on real race to..

Realy accurate.. IF properly adjusted... Importent... the only major differents is the speed, because the track use a length thats is in the end of the track AND a bit after the finnish so you get somhow a average speed... and the G-tec delivers more actual speed..

Re: g tech accuracy ?

yea the MPH is a little off. back in the day i ran 15.1 @ 99mph on the Gtech, and a trip to the track showed that it was very accurate with the ET, but not with the speed.

I believe i read that the G-tech takes a mph reading at exactly the 1/4 mile point and I believe the track mph is calculated by the time it takes to go through the speed trap.

so the gtech is probably just as accurate, it's just measuring speed differently

Re: g tech accuracy ?

I own a Gtech Pro SS which is a newer one. It is pretty accurate in most of the vehicles I have put it in (with the default values). In my typhoon, the results are quite a bit off. When lauching, my truck squats a lot and throws off the accuracy of the Gtech. There is a ptich correction setting you can use to compensate for this. The catch is you need to run at a track to determine the pictch correction value to use. By using the trap speed the gtech comes up with, and the actual trap speed, you can determine the proper pitch correction.

Re: g tech accuracy ?

since my first post i have been testing my gtech and comparing times to actual et tickets and have come to believe that it is very accurate. diffrences seem to be in diffrences between the the calculations versus timing devices at drag strip.gtech starts calculations at start of vehicle, dragstrip timer starts when second beam is broken so the vehicle is actually moving at the start of the run. mph is the same gtech is a calculation of true 1/4 mile speed while dragstrip et ticket gives you an average over the last 60 feet.

Yeah, the older g-tech's I've used, when I'm building boost to launch it will start the g-tech early because it sees the truck rising. Which slows down my et on it.
