??? Yes just seeing what head gasket he went with. Mike are you happy with the quality of the SCE gaskets? Let me know.

They seem pretty snazzy to me. I have not yet fired my truck up so I do not know. But I have heard that in the way of o-ringed stuff, they are the best way to go. They were on this motor when I bought and the previous owner (Ry368) sure seemed happy with them and never had any issues.

i got the copper gaskets. .062 thick i think, but i'll check

found some good info on theturboforums.com about how to install them correctly without leaking. they are torqued down, but my motor is still on the engine stand

The SCE ones? How did the forums say to seal them up without leaking?
Thanks,

Thanks,

no, straight copper gaskets.

i was told to smear a thin layer of red rtv around all the water and oil holes, both sides. let dry, spray with copper seal both sides, let dry, spray again and let it get tacky, then install and torque them down

thats what i did, we'll see if it works

Re: got an o-ringed block

Did you see the ones in my thread? Look close now.

Are you talking to me? If so, can you read above when I asked YOU how you liked the SCE gaskets that you bought? I SEE that you bought those gaskets. What else do you want me to say? Mike I SEE your gaskets are you happy now. Im not blind. I just want some other options for my slight problem, YES I know SCE gaskets are probably my best bet but I am exploring other options.

If you arn't talking to me then I apologize and carry on.

Thanks,

Re: got an o-ringed block

Just seems everyone keeps asking about sealing. The titans come with sealant on them, so you don't have to worry about it. This is a nice feature. And since sealing keeps coming up, I figure no one is really looking at this gasket and seeing the sealant they put on there. If you HAVE SEEN it, then that's good, just want to make sure you did SEE it:lol:

I SEE , I SEE, hahahaha. The rep. from SCE told me that these would work well but the sealant that they use MAY start to break down if exposed to collant with gycypol (spl????) if used on a street car. I want to install a head gasket that i dont have to worry about. Now do you see my dire effort to find out what people have used and what works for the long run?
See ya,

Sure, absolutely. I have heard that when using them the way was explained earlier, using copper and RTV, that the same thing happens. SCE told me I should never have to worry about it. Who did you talk to? What coolant does NOT contain the material you mentioned? That would be worth knowing for sure.

Dont remember his name but he said evans or red line non glyphol coolant would be best for longevity.

Re: got an o-ringed block

You know I wonder if it would be beneficial in anyway to to just o-ring the water and oil passages? Wonder if it can even be done.

Re: got an o-ringed block

How did you end up doing with the o ring block? Copper gasket, machined the heads or the block?

Thanks
