I know that it has a 10-1 chip in it. I think it has a shift kit in it. It shifts hard. I know that the engine was rebuilt by PAS about 5k miles ago and i still have 20k left on the warranty:D The body has a ding the size of a dime on the drivers door and a 1 inch tear in the pass. seat. no big deal. im doing a ignition tune up on it as soon as my wires and plugs get here.

Hard to believe PAS rebuilt the motor 5k miles ago... they've been out of business for over 7 years from what I'm aware of...

Asside from that... welcome to the jungle...

Im sorry it was a Jasper rebuild. I have the warranty until 75k miles or august 2004 which ever comes first. Do you know anything about Jasper rebuilds?

It sounds like BG has something against Jasper. I've used their diesels for years and there was a fresh one in my TY when I bought it in the spring. I've got 5K on it now and it's been great except for some drivability issues that are not Jasper realated. I'm sure if it blows you guys will be the second to know about it. Welcome to the forum!

Maybe you can point me in the right direction partyboy. Only negative thing I can find is about one transmission. Not criticizing I just want more info.

seeing as the transmission problem was posted... and knowing sean's expertise.. hearing him say there were some problems with Turbo buick engines.. I wouldn't be tempted to buy one...

I sincerely hope it works out, but considering most engine replacements I've seen or heard of have problems, no matter who built it. Not singling out Jasper, but I believe I recall someone having problems with one of their rebuilds.

May wanna snoop around and see if your replacement motor is any different than one for a blazer... check part numbers and so forth.

Why would you buy a diesel Ty?

 I guess I could have worded that a little better hah?

I personally wouldn't buy a Jasper engine either Brian but the deal was right on the truck and it was already in there. If it pukes while it's still under warranty I'll pull the replacement apart and make sure it's right before I install it. If it pukes out of warranty I'll build one the way I want it. I did check on what was inside this thing before I bought it and they say it has the right pistons but had no info on the crank journal size. If it was a blazer engine I would think I would have a KR problem.

As far as the posts go, the one that had 5 Jasper engines in it was a trans problem. Besides that, the cause of the failure should have been discovered long before the fouth failure. The rest of the stuff was hearsay. No one can build the perfect motor every time. All us engine techs have problems on occasion. It's how those problems are handled that makes or breaks ya. Learning from mistakes is a part of it too.
