Headliner fabric loose

Did a bit of searching, didn't get far.

My headliner is falling down. Just the fabric and just over each seat. Seems to still be attached front, back, and in the middle, bit not over where each person sits.

Whats happened and is it fixable? I'll get a pic up later today.

While I'm at it, is the headliner easy to remove? A quick glance and it looks fairly straight forward.

Yes, the headliner is relatively easy to remove. Then you strip off the old fabric and glue on new. I've had this done on two different cars. Look for a shop that specializes in automotive interior/upholstery work. If you carry the headliner in yourself, it's cheaper than if they remove it and do it. It is almost impossible to repair the original fabric. The headliner "fabric" is actually fabric with a foam backing. It's usually the foam that falls apart and lets the fabric hang down.

My upholstery guy fixed mine on a S10 for $25.

Find an upholstery shop that will fix yours for like $50. It's cardboard,cloth and glue.

It is relatively easy to do yourself. I bought some black swede headliner material and just stripped the old foam off and put all new material on.

I saw some GM NOS headliners on eBay as well. I didn't check if the correct part numbers are correct.

On a Sy it is very easy to do. I ordered material that was better looking stuff than the original. I had a upholstery shop cover the sun visors due to the material color shade being a little different. That cost about $30. The headliner use WD-40 and a putty knife and the old glue comes right off. The headliner will look like new. Make sure you get 3m headliner adhesive. Spray the center section of the headliner with adhesive. Press the material down and hold several seconds. Then work your way out to ends of the headliner. Do one side then the other. Then trim with about one inch or so past the edges of the headliner. Spray enough area on the back side of the headliner to glue down the trimmed edge of material.
