Here are pics of my Syclone's accident

I snapped a bunch of photos on Sunday and Monday and put them up in a pictorial here. http://www.nconnect.net/~tookycat/syclone/sydamage1.htm . The whole thing is about 1.3MB large. The pictures turned out really well, I had them developed into a cool Kodak PhotoCD (always wanted to try that). Don't mind the dorky guy in the pictures

Anyone know of any use for a good grille with one corner broken off? Or should I just toss it in the refuse bin?

WHOA

It's almost funny how jealous I am of you holding all those parts...even the cladding clips. Damn, your old man can pull some decent strings. It's also excellent that you were able to pretty easily obtain all OEM parts so your truck will be better than new!

Yeah actually I know from a fact that the front bumper cover and all wheel arch cladding are disctontinued - my dad is an insurance adjuster, so he gave me a Mitchell Collision Guide (for part numbers and whatnot)....the front bumper cladding is listed as d985.40, the d standing for discontinued by GM.

Again, congratulations Josh

i likw the "would you pay $127 for this?" part.

I have a question.....

Why doesn't someone make a mold of the cladding and do fiberglass replacements??

There's a lot of glassing in the car audio world, and I know how to make molds and whatnot.

Would it be good to have fiberglass replacement cladding??

Already been done, Sean Morris had someone do it I think Mike Lee sells it at http://www.arautosports.com. Anyone out there tried the fiberglass kit?

Rockford Racecraft makes a perfect replica and are always available, from what I hear you can't tell the difference. still you'll feel better about driving an original truck if you get the OEM stuff

I dig redheads.

Ditto...

BTW, I betting you have all the part #s, reciepts, etc for the parts you got... Might wanna hang onto those as Im sure someone (prolly me) will need some stuff sooner or later.

Fill us in on how your dad managed to snag a new fender arch still in the GM wrapper through the dealer too... Everyone says that the stuff is no longer available through the dealer. Id like to know how your dad went about finding it.. Just curious...

One more thing.. The damage aint really that bad. Actually this is what us ppl in the body shop bus call an "easy fix" or a "quickie". Good money in something like this for a body shop (well, as long as the body shop isnt the one that damaged the vehicle in the first place...).

Some of the cladding is still available, it's just that few people are willing to pay the stealer's prices.

front bumper - 15637933 GM List $985
fender arch - 15637921 / 15637922 GM List $504.20 each

That's strange, both the body shop and the insurance company used Mitchell and they both used Data Version "DEC_01_A", UltraMate Version 4.7.007. Both list the front bumper as Dollar Amount: 985.00. The only thing with a "d" by it, was the L Fog Lamp Assembly, which you can see in the picture, I recieved without a problem.
Again, congratulations Josh
Thanks!! Maybe this is looking better after all?

As for the parts, my Dad just had the parts department order them like normal, and they came in!! I swear, they honestly did not do anything special to get the parts. They said they checked and they were all available, my Dad said "wait until they actually ship before we can tell if they are really available", well you saw the pictures, I was holding the stuff cause it arrived! Is there anyone out there who has tried to get cladding from a GM dealer and was told it was unavailable?

Also my Dad tends to disbelieve or at least by cynical of things I read on the Internet, so when I told him about people who can't get the 4.3 Turbo engine anymore, he said he bet he could get one. We debated a little more about it and it came down to; he didn't want to order one to find out because then who would pay for it when it arrived on a truck? I still wonder what would happen...

As for the redhead, that's my girlfriend, Tracy.. she runs my DataMaster while we street-race  Sorry E-RUE, I don't have any sisters!

I have had no problem getting the cladding from the dealer, even the alleged discontinued stuff (besides cladding) you just have to find a parts guy who is willing to do some work to get it Ken

Good pics Josh, glad to see there was not too much damage. Hopefully it will look real nice when its done, could look better if you painted the cladding j/k. As far as getting those parts I don't really think it is that hard if you have a parts guy that will work with you, like my truck has a new right front fender piece of cladding that the former owner bought from a dealer in his area but then again he went to a friend that worked at a dealership and payed $350 for it brand new (I know he paided that much 'cause I have the receipt.)
