I think my Ostrich is broken, need a chip burned to test.

I've been gone for a while, got really into dirt biking and let my Syclone sit for a while and decided to fire it up again. It runs like crap now, I think m Ostrich is having troubles. I am unable to save any in to it and would like to be able to run my truck for a bit without the Ostrich.

I had the bright idea to send it back to Moates and in the process pay him to burn me a chip with my bin file so I wouldn't have to depend on the Ostrich. Does anyone know of who I can pay to burn me a chip?

Part of the problem is I need to buy a chip from someone and Moates is closed for the next couple of weeks. I PM'd Paul to see if he has a spare he can sell but if you know of another source of chips I can buy that would be great.

I don't have any chips or burners, I was just using the Ostrich. My understanding when I bought it was that was all I would need and that it would last for years but I may have received a faulty unit. I'm not even positive the Ostrich is the problem, could be tunerpro? I tried pulling the bin from the Ostrich on two different laptops and both failed so I don't think it's a problem with my computers.

What are you looking for... '256 or the '040.

Jameco used to carry them, too. Mouser might as well.

A simple test...

Download a bin to the ostrich.

With the truck running (poorly),Fire up your scan tool, and see if you can log data. If you can do that, the ostrich isn't the problem.

Cable orientation would be one thing to check, as well as switch settings on the ostrich.

I have a few spare 256 chips and a burner, I could burn your bin and mail it today.

A simple test...

Download a bin to the ostrich.

With the truck running (poorly),Fire up your scan tool, and see if you can log data. If you can do that, the ostrich isn't the problem.

Cable orientation would be one thing to check, as well as switch settings on the ostrich.

I don't have a laptop that can log data right now but I did try pushing a bin to Ostrich which says it was successful, then I try to immediately save the bin off of it and it says there was a failure. If I can't read what I just wrote it's hard to have any faith in it.

I wish I would have checked back on this thread earlier. Paul was going to burn me a chip but I think he is out of chips as well. I'll see if he had any luck and if not I'll take you up on your offer.
