Re: idea's

If you start with a 4x4 S10 frame, then you can put anything into it.

Go with a newer 98+ truck and either put in a Sy/Ty engine, or what Scott/UR50SLO did.

Whether you choose a SY/TY engine or a newer Vortec engine, you can use the 411 PCM. If you use the SY/TY engine you have to add some mods to it so the 411 PCM will work (ask me how I know)

Using the SY/TY ECM in a newer truck is a PITA (ask me how I know) The SY/TY ECM is speed density and the newer trucks PCM are Mass Air flow (MAF). The newer truck PCM's have class II serial data which the older ECM does not have which makes your dash semi functional.

The easiest route is adding the Sy/TY exhaust manifolds with either the marine intake or SY/Ty intake (modified) to a newer block (96+) truck and tuning the PCM. However, I am not sure of the longevity to the stock engine in high boost applications.

You will also need to choose an external boost contoller since the 411 PCM does not control boost.

Scott,

Did Accell ever get back to you on their dual Sync distributor? That would be the easiest plug and play for the 411 conversion.

Too bad their tech support seemingly sucks.

We appreciate your persistance for finding a proven solution for the conversion!

Here's a cool front cover for SBC's that we can use on our 4.3L to install a crank sensor.

I'm currently looking into having someone figure out the core program to use a 24 or 56 tooth wheel

so we can all have coil on plug and 411PCM's.

Just buy a typhoon. I was in the same boat about buying one. I figured I would have around 15k into a regular s10blazer, even though I wanted a typhoon. So I found a nice typhoon that needs paint, and TLC for 5k. Took a while to find a nice basically stock truck, but they are out there.
Now I am spending another 5k for paint, body, and other little performance items. Not bad 10k, and I will have a badd ass truck that one day might be worth something, rather than a s10 blazer

when i have some money again, im gonna order my "DAMN, i should have bought a syty" sticker.

i havent even started the wiring. the 4.3 internals are super expensive. i have a mandrel bent sy DP and it doesn't fit my 95 s10.
http://www.syty.net/forums/showthread.php?t=73569heres my thread.
if i were to do it all over again id buy a clean TY with few mods and drive it. or if i insisted to doing a turbo swap, i would have done a LS. more power more reliable and for the same money.

I got one of those answers "It should work" Yea.. before I go out and spend several hundred dollars or more and not have somthing that is usable I want to KNOW it'll work. :)

I'm not giving up on the Coil on Plug till I get it all working. Sure love to run a newer ECM with sequential injection and CoPlug setup. That'd be awsome.
One of these day... Lol

That's a big block cover (I think from an 8.1), not a small block one. If you want a cover for a 4.3, you can use one from a 96- 99 5.7 vortec motor. Where are you going to find a 24X crank reluctor, to find on a SBC or 4.3 crank, the one they're using is for a BBC crank. Since its only a 6 cylinder, the reluctor might have to be 18 pulses instead of 24, since the vortec 6's have a 3 pulse instead of 4 pulse crank reluctor.
