Impresive Alky results

FWIW, that is on a Supra though. Those things aren't subject to the same laws of the universe that syty's are. Most owners just yank the boost control lines and run them on pump gas. They can really run high boost. I'll be tuning a Supra powered lexus (again) soon that ran 35psi with a T88, and this time around, they want to run 45psi.

where is everyone getting methanol from?

also why cant we use it as an octane booster.
i read a lot about M-85 and it looks like a nice idea.
i just dont think its commercially available yet.

Race shops that sell race fuels stock methanol typically.

It's REALLY corrosive, putting that through your tank/injectors would be bad, plus it burns at a different air-fuel ratio. For you to replace your gasoline system with alky system, you'd need to supply roughly twice as much fuel as you would in the gasoline setup.

This post starts out as a nozzle thread, but if you read down, Anarkey's getting some impressive results using methanol, I wouldn't expect to run this much boost with stock syty heads, but even 23-24 would be impressive, especially with 20 degree mats.

Cool. It'd be interesing to try 6 of the really small ones, one in each
runner. Get total flow to be around 2.0 GPM, and then modulate the
pump to get the volume you really needed.

Are they really driving a shurflow to 100+ psi? Geez, that's a lot of
pressure for that chintzy plastic.

I often wondered about using the fuel nozzle from a Knipco heater...
not as high volume as the furnace nozzles, but still cheap.

Ask and ye shall receive.....as a chem major, don't drink methanol, as you'll go blind. Interestingly enough, rather than pumping your stomach as many doctors do, it is more effective to have you drink ethanol, which out competes the methanol and is only toxic in much larger quantities.

I'm not big on Methanol really, mostly due to the caustic effect on parts.

Ethanol, is another thing. Good-'ol corn squeezins.

I'm looking into using E-85 (85% ethanol) as a fuel. Run 84# injectors,
and feed 'er the liquor. Maybe even run it through a cool can with dry
ice in it.... ice-cold spray right at the port entrance.

E-85...... hmmmm thats a new one. you have any idea when these alternative fuels will be availlible? i tried to get M-85, and no one even knows what it is. also, per patrick at PTE, the delphi fuel injectors they sell,(like the 50's we are all running) are all alky/methanol safe. the fuel pump and tank are probably not gonna be.
