Junk ECM?????????

I recently purchased a typhoon and have encountered a detonation issue shortly after repairing the stock exhaust. I performed a tune up and the plugs had a bright brownish tinge to them so they were ok across the board. I checked my IC pump fuse and found that it was blown. I replaced it and pulled the ecm-b fuse overnight for a healthy reset. I went to plug it in this morning and the truck cranked but wouldn't start. Actually it started and ran a little rough but would not idle and dies. I want to beleive that this is the ecm. Has anyone else heard of this type of situation before?????????

you didnt say if you started the truck up after changing plugs.

if you didnt ...go fix your firing order.

if you did and it ran fine.....I dont have a clue.

I replaced the ecm and the check engine light came on and the truck was runnin real rich and erratically but less detonation any suggestions? Knock sensor or esc also where is the wire in the harness for the quick disconnect to check the timing? Thanks

why dont you do this the easy way.

the ecm turns on the light to tell you that if you read the code causing the light you can then lookup the possible causes of the code in the manual.

from there you can follow all the possible causes, find the problem and fix it.

Nothin easier than fixin the truck when you get a check engine light cuz then you have a path to follow.

Now when it runs like crap and you have no code, that can be dificult.

So, find the code and go fix the truck.

and if you dont have the manual, search for a user named opie, spend some money with him, buy the manual and fix the truck.

HElllloooo Any body HOME??? looks like the light is on in there!

Nope i guess not.....lights on but nobody home.

I do not have a check engine light on. I swapped the computer and the same behavior is present it is detonating like a bastard but the plugs looked good when i pulled them now the truck will sometimes crank and not start unless i feather the throttle but stalls could it be a bad iac motor/ knock sensor? no codes present so this is really odd. What are some possible causes to this detonation and is there any way for me to solve this before my motor is irreparably damaged? Has anyone heard of this before? If i can't figure this one out i am going to the shop next week.. When the truck runs it is constantly pinging.... Please Help!!!

There is oil present on the air charge outlet side of the turbo but the plugs weren't fouled and showed no sign of oil. There was also some oil in the air box as well. Should i pull my ic and clean the throttle body?

make sure you dont have any cracks in your vacume holes or kinds. i had a kink in my vacume hose going to my 3 bar map and the thing was pig rich and did not want to run.

I changed my oil and the problem is still apparent thinking its valvetrain related now. Off to a service shop tommorrow for diagnosis keep you posted..

Prepare yourself for a good old fashioned A$$ #ucking with out lube. They will change a bunch of things and the problem will still be there. I say do the things that people suggest on the board.

What sort of exhaust repair? Was arc welding done to the exhaust while on the truck and without disconnecting the battery and ECM? This 'bad practice' can easily damage electonic systems and may have 'cooked' the knock sensor, ESC module, or ECM.

Whenever you notice a problem soon after a recent repair, backtrack the work done to see if anything may be related to the new problem. The more common 'mistakes' include disconnecting wires and vacuum lines to gain access to parts, then forgetting to reconnect or crossing things up when they are reconnected.

Do you have a Service Manual Supplement? Do you have access to a 'scan' tool?
