So with my new knock sensor installed, no more code 43. But on the DM, it shows almost contiuous knocks & timing retard when reving in nutreal of holding at 2K or higher. Could be pistons, pins of ????
Anyone ever heard of this?

Maybe mount knock sens. else where??

KS tightness

KS tightness

The Knock Sensor is not supposed to be very tight at all. Most problems come from overtightening it. Not sure what kind of a torque setting U R talking about, but I think it would be low - something like 5-10 Ft-Lbs.

Its gotta be false, did you torque down the sensor with a torque wrench?

False, how?

I didn't torque it, just average tightness. I would think for it to loose enough for a "soft?" install it would fall out.

I'm still thinking loose pistons.

Hey, wait....I'm Dave & my sy is 2662

A good way to tell if you getting flase knock is by reving it neutral, you should get any knock real knock counts from that.

It really needs to be torqued, average tightness is probably too much. I relocated my Knock sensor yesterday and torque down a new Knock sensor, I was suprised how little 14ft-lbs is. I think the rubber coating on the bottom of the sensor play a little into that.

It if make you feel any better, your sy's brother #2661 is having knock retard problems as well, but I know his knock counts are real. My truck first two owner were from San Diego, CA.
