What Crazy J said I would rather make my own brackets.

Fern,
I appreciate the fact that you figure out what needed to be done to adapt the LS1 brakes to our trucks.
If you could send via email dimension I could host the drawing of the brackets.
Also I would understand if you don’t what to share the drawing if you could make some money building these.
I personal would only make a set for me and a few friends. I would not make them for a profit. Thanks

I'd be interested in a diagram as well. It sounds like a worthwhile project. I am planning on the ls1 rear brake swap in the spring, so why not all four?? I understand if you don't want to give this information out, I know you have a lot of time into this so far.

Thanks

hmm, i posted earlier and now it's gone.

hey truckin, have you roadtested this yet? i'm about to start measuring for the mounts and was wondering if you've run into any problems.

So did I????? NE ways, I have it all mounted and it looks good, but I wont know for sure till the truck is on the road in two months. Im going to put the template up here as soon as I get it scaned to disk. Fern

couple quick questions.
first, you said you used the stock brake hose, from which vehicle? (they look similar but my calipers came with the hoses cut).

second, in the photo marked ls1_3.jpg are there spacers between the mounting bracket and the caliper bracket? if so how thick are they?

my AWD project truck (sorry, not a sy or ty) won't be running until this summer so you'll probably have the bugs worked out before me. but if i have the time i'll try to get these mounted on my bravada and take em for a test drive.

Stock brake hoses from the syclone, switched left to right, and right to left. Yes, thoses spacers are the hardest part of the whole job. What Id suggest is get some 1/2" washers and use those as spacers just to get the proper thickness. Than once thats found, measure your stack of washers and get a 1" or 1 1/8" rod or kingpin(what I used) and cut it to the proper depth. Then line it up with the hole in the bracket and drill your hole. The problem I ran into was that every spacer was a little bit differant size, I didnt have one measurement. Fern

Okey Guys, I got a template of the brackets, so if someone wants to host them, speak up. I gave the drawings to a friend and asked him when he scaned it if it will reman at the correct size, he said yeah, so should be good.. Let me know. Fern

Send it to me in a email and I will Host it somewhere.

Thanks Fern!

nice going, fern.
just thought it only proper to post this - lynn hopkins, the source mentioned for used parts, was a nightmare for me.
she strung me along with promise after promise of sending me what i needed at the time, and flaked out 100% after many weeks of wasted time.
she was nice as all get out the whole time, however!
point is - dont immobilize your truck and depend on her to get you what you need promptly.
i'm not trying to be slanderous or anything - i'm not even pissed any more - just giving replay of my own personal experience.
lastly, fern - baer racing has told me many times fax machines and some scanners do not accurately exactly reproduce - this is why they'll no longer fax or email templates of their stuff for test fitments - only snail mail hard copy.
again, just fair warning.

Fern, Thanks for the images. I was hoping for some dimension. I guess this is a starting point. I didn't what to resize these if you right click and "Save Picture As" and print them from "MS Paint" they look close to full size.

Like I told the Hooter's waitress, "Those are huge"! They are almost as wide as my monitor :D must be for an 18 wheeler.

Its hard to believe you had problems with lynn. I bought both my front and rear LS1 brakes off her, they came fast, packaged great, and complete, I had no complains, but I guess everyone has a bad day. I will get some measurement for you guys today. Each of those bracket are not exactly the same. So you guys are probably better off just using one of them and making it twice, that way you can flip it and use it for the other side. The main thing when making them is to make sure that where the bolt mounting points are for thses brackets on our spindles, that the bracket sits flat against there, and doesnt interfere with anything else. With some acurate measurements, I think we could get these laser cut and made to order.

I have a source, If theres interest I'll see if I cant get a general price outa him.

 makes me glad i'm cheap, as i mentioned before i went the junkyard route. the rotors i got were in excellent shape and $30 shipped. the calipers on the other hand could have been better but for $50 shipped i can take those to an auto parts place and trade them in on freshly rebuilt pieces for $50 each. bringing my total to $180 for fresh brakes, a little more than Ebay or Lyn Hopkins (or any other F-Body dealer) but without worrying about the quality.

if anyone's interested in the junkyard route i suggest going to car-part.com and finding someone cheap. here are the people i've dealt with:
Eagle Auto in Greensboro, MD 1-800-638-4991. they charge $30 for a pair of rotors shipped. everyone else i called said they would charge $30+ for shipping alone!
shipping was 6 business days to WA via UPS ground.

Williams Auto Salvage in Houston, TX, 1-800-969-2015. calipers on car-part.com are listed as $13 but there is a small core charge, they've sold me two sets now for $50 shipped per pair. they have a 90 day guarantee and look like they'd hold up for a lot more, but i'd rather pay another $100 and get fresh ones.
shipping was 5 business days to WA via UPS ground.

i've also called parts stores, they want an insane amount for a core charge, ranging from $65 to $80 each caliper.

Fern, thanks for getting that scanned/hosted. now i can quit playing with these and get them mounted!
