lightswitch triggers fuelpump/ecm

Re: lightswitch triggers fuelpump/ecm

no tach - and nothing altered within the column wiring - BUT, i had the column teared down to tighten the 4 hex bolts....had to pull a bit on the cables to get them past the spline....maybe something disconnected?

will definetly check for the distr. pulse signal tomorrow....would a code 43 fit in this picture?

If something got disconnected then something wouldn't be working, which is the opposite to what you've got happening. So I doubt it's a connection issue.

Code 43 is an ESC error, which is spark timing. So I guess this issue *could* possibly throw an ESC code, but it's not backwards compatible.

I'll keep my thinking cap on....

problem disapears when i unplug the coil (gray/black connectors) - changed coil, changed module - problem stays...

And the plot thickens...

Unplugging the coil makes sense, since the grey connector provides B+ for both the coil and the Ign module. Since we suspect the module is sending a phantom signal to the ECM, shutting it down just confirms our suspicion since the problem disappears with B+ removed.

I'd also be willing to bet that the coil fires once each time the fuel pump primes.

I'm still trying to come up with a plausible scenario where the lighting circuit and the Ign (trigger) circuit get even remotely close to each other.

Re: lightswitch triggers fuelpump/ecm

checked the coil für false spark - no false spark with ignition/lights...

i tried to check if the lightswitch triggers a signal to the ecm at the pins c8 (423), d8 (430) and/or d9 (453) - but i have no clue how they actually should act, read out - so i can´t tell if the readings are out of the norm..

cleaned up the underdash wiring today and checked for disconnected wires and stuff, nothing obvious..

pulled the radio to check the wiring - only thing i found wrong was a cut up wiring für the glovebox light....switch is still attached, has orange/black going in, but nothing comes out, no socket found, but 2 hacked up wires orange/brown...

might not relate to my problem, but if anyone knows how this was wired up stock i´d like to know...
