Re: Local HELP PLEASE

Just because you understand buicks doesn't mean they will in syty land. Nothing against them just the systems really only share the OBD1 communications part.

I consider myself decent on syty, but I would be lost in buick world and wouldn't attempt to charge a buick person to tune, so it goes both ways.

Re: Local HELP PLEASE

I meant that in general Buick tuners know little about tuning SyTy's. Our trucks are ALDL, not OBD1. So are TR's. I know a good awd dyno down here in Miami but they don't tune our trucks. They don't have the equipment to do it, mostly they do late model GM OBDII and rice.

Re: Local HELP PLEASE

I would try the following:

Assuming you have the 3 Bar sensor installed, put the stock chip back in by itself, and start the truck.
It should run. Probably poorly, with a lot of extra fuel, but it'll run. Don't drive it like this, though.

If it doesn't, something else is wrong with the truck.

If it does run, take a look at your 50# chip really close. Look for bent pins on the chip part itself, and make sure everything is seated properly. Put the stock chip back on the 50# chip (piggyback) and put it back in and try it again.

I've never seen a 50# chip so far off that it wouldn't start. There are a lot of crappy running ones, mostly due to the fact that there are several different brands of "50#" injectors, and they're not all the same. If the chip still doesn't work after this, I'd suspect that it's defective.

See if you can read the numbers off the injectors, and google the number. It should tell you what size they are.

*EDIT* Also, take a picture of the chip as installed in the ECM, and maybe snap a close up of one of the injectors. That should tell us a bit more about what you really have.

Re: Local HELP PLEASE

Sounds like you got low impedence injectors for a high imped. chip. It will crank but the injectors won't fire.

Re: Local HELP PLEASE

they are firing because the spark plugs have gas on them. the fuel pressure at idle is around 32lbs right now, then increases to 60lbs under boost.

Re: Local HELP PLEASE

Ok here is an update with pics.

I looked at how the chip was installed, this is what it looked like:

If you ask me it doesnt look like the piggy back to the stock chip is all the way connected?

This is what the 50# chip looks like and there are no bent pins

Re: Local HELP PLEASE

SHE IS ALIVE!!!!! I would like to thank everyone that posted to help. I really appreciate the time you took to help me with my situation. When I took the 50# chip out of the ECM, first thing I noticed was the stock chip wasnt seated all the was on the piggyback, and second there was a pin that was bent in the ECM. Also the ECM has clips on either side that were preventing the chip from seating all the way. Turned the key and started right up!

Once again I want to thank everyone for their help, could not have done it without you guys and a lot of praying:woot:

Cool. The bent pin in the ecm socket is more common than you'd think.

Go easy with the boost until you know the AFRs are decent.

Re: Local HELP PLEASE

Well one disapointment after another, chip starts the truck, but the tune is wrong. Brought it to the dyno today and the a/f ratio is off the chart rich(looked almost like diesel, that bad) until about 3k and clears up and gets lean above 3k. I don't know what to do next, not much time till pinks so don't think I'll make it, but I'll be there with my dad's racecar. Unless I can figure out a solution.
