This truck is awesome!!
Re: Looks looky....fml

Aaron spend some money on the truck and fix it up right! If you can it can be expensive. Is this your rust??

Code what?
Do it your self, order a pint of por15 in a kit and take care of it. Sand/grind it down with some air tools and paint on the por15 and call the glass guy back out. $800 what?

Take it in if you put por15 on it and put the windshield in it won't last more than a year. I bet once you hit that with a wheel you'll be well into the pillar and roof before you get all of the rust. Theres quite a bit of mud goin in that to fix. My :2cents:

Re: Looks looky....fml

There's transport damage to the roof due to not strapping it down right from the duel level transport rig....so they are fixing the dents and the rust for $800... another guy I know had some rust repair by them done and was pleased. ...even the owner said I've been doing this shit for 40 years in the same building....If I did shitty work do ya think I'd have money for all my cool cars that I've bought and fixed? Seemed like an honest old timer....said we are doing it right not half assing it like most the shops that will hire any monkey off the street if he has hands and feet. I'll take after pics also so keep this post up.

I don't know how much they charge but if I fixed that just by lookin at it from your pics your talking probably around $1500. Windshield alone is $400 my cost installed.

:stupid:

Fix it right the first time or it'll grow. If you can see some rust, there's a lot more that you can't see.

Damn, what is with these trucks and rust?

We don't have those rust problems down south. It's where you guys live.

Ditto my syty buddy....it's getting fixed the right way. ...the Ty deserves it.

Don't feel too bad, this is a GM problem. I bet even the guys in the south will find some rust around the windshield and around the rear side windows on Ty's. GM did a terrible job prepping these areas when the trucks were built, and there are 2 layers of metal that like to hold the moisture.

Definitely not the case from my experience. Especially if you take care of them and occasionally give them a cleaning. I've owned 10 S-Series and 9 of them had no rust issues. The 9 were all from Mid-TN, So-KY, AZ, & TX. The only one with any rust was from Ohio.

Heck, even my K5 isn't that bad (and we all know how those rust). The rockers are rusted out from mud and leaves sitting inside them but the quarters and floor are solid.

I agree with you for sure, what I'm saying is how many S-series trucks did you take the windshields out of? That one spot is a bad spot, it's the way GM put them together, but you likely will never know it until you remove the windshield. I have bought lots of southern trucks and there's no beating them that's for sure.

I started doing paint and body work when I was 14. I've had more than my share of s-series windshields out. The last one was a 1989 regular cab S-15. It had no rust. Maybe that spot is a bad rust spot, but I think environmental conditions have more to do with it than anything.

I don't have any windshield pics (because it's never been out) but this is what the bottom of a Tennessee truck looks like....

I didn't intend for this to turn into an argument. A guy from Ontario should know WAY more about rust than a Tennessee boy.

That truck ^^^^^^ is badass.

My Chevelle came from North Carolina and didn't come to ohio until 92, and I bought it in 94. No rust anywhere but the windshield. Water sits in there and can't evaporate.

That's why I have a few vehicles that won't ever see rain.

That truck is clean Joe, maybe it has to do with Florida then? I have brought a couple of trucks that spent their life in Florida, no rust anywhere, except for under that damn windshield rubber and the rear side windows. I have seen quite a few California Ty's too that have had the same issues, maybe the salt water is causing it. I guess I start looking more in Tennessee and Georgia for trucks
