Machine shop in MN?

Im going to have my machine work on my block soon and was wondering if anyone in MN had any shops they like. Im looking at Northern Cylinder head in Andover or R&R Performance in Spring Lake Park. Im just doing a basic rebuild with forged pistons and eagle rods. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Machine shop in MN?

i just went with competition engines in eagan last year who did my recent engine, he is really good, but may take a while.

others

R&R, brian is awesome with headwork/porting
Wheeler racing is good also on the north side.
Mike seagar-bloomington, he does it all out of his house but does top notch work, just as good as any other performance shop. very reasonable

Agreed, and please stay away from Northern Cylinder head, they screwed me on a set of lt1 heads. Then just tore down a motor done by them with less then 1000 miles and they did not put the parts in they said they did.

So who have you all used? Who is this Mike Seagar and how do I get a hold of him? Is he able to do all the machine work or just assembly?

My dad just had some heads done this week, had them back in 3 days. He is not very busy right now. He is pretty well known, he is short and to the point. He may not want to sit around and talk all the time, time is money, and thats why he gets things done fast. He does machine, assembly etc.

We've got a great guy up here, but that doesn't help you a whole lot down there.

This is true, Wayne and Todd do great work only problem is they are in fargo.

Mike Segar has a good reputation in my book worked with a couple motors out of there and no complaints.

Is this that dude with the dragster and the machine shop in his basement?

i had some machine work done by segar after seeing nice stuff come from him before, i get my motor back and i might aswell just scrubbed it myself, cause thats pretty much all that was done. the bores were honed but the ridges at the top were never even removed. like i said if seen good stuff from there, but i will never go back.

Crap that was segar, I was thinking of a guy up in the north metro then mike something or other. And I can vouch on the above it was a little disappointing.

Re: Machine shop in MN?

Kenny @ Total Engine in Bloomington did my build. My dad hooked me up with him so I'd have to dig a little bit for his info. As far as I know he's been doing it since the 70's and is super thorough with his work.
