MAP sensor just quit

Anybody have this? Driving down the fwy and all of a sudden I've got no throttle. Coast over to the shoulder and the truck will idle but that's it. Ding. I've got the laptop why not look and see what's going on. Duh. First thing is when I step on it the ECM voltage drops to 0.1, what the? Drop the ecm check wiring. Nothing. I've even go a meter with me and what little checking I can do checks OK. Do another log and I've got an error. Click and it's MAP low. Open hood and disconnect/reconnect MAP no help.

I was not far from where I keep the truck and was able to get my spare brought to me. Install that and the thing runs again. I've had it, the spare, for so long I don't even remember why I had the thing. It did seem to mess with the tune though so I'm gonna get a new one.

Very strange. I thought these things were were pretty much bullet proof. Probably didn't pay that much attention but I don't recall seeing that many posts on failed MAP sensors.

While I've been researching Adam's Jimmy's issues, I looked at the MAP sensor. Nothing I've read would have said that's what a bad MAP sensor would do, especially when you unplugged it.

I had a map sensor fail after a particular nasty backfire before discovering that I had installed my dist. 180 out. I found out mine was bad by getting a reading of 0 volts from the map sensor on my Holley display. It would start and idle, but it would go dead lean when ever you tried to give it any throttle.

Well personally I don't think it's the chip. I still think that I've got a gremlin in the harness somewhere. Reason? Along with everything else awhile back the Check Gauges light starts flashing. Oil pressure is at -0-. "Normal" had been pegged on the high side and I didn't bother with it because a) PITA to change and b) I've got a "real" oil pres gauge and knew I had 50# pf pressure. Anyway, change the sender. It now reads about what 50# should look like. Yesterday gauges light flashes and OP is at -0- again. Then back to normal, back and forth we go until I park it.

Something ain't right somewhere. Exploratory surgery is next. Gota small oil leak to fix plus I'm gonna pull the entire under-hood wireing and inspect for shorts, opens, whatever. Something is wacky somewhere.

Dave. I'll look at those logs for your questions. Or just post up a link. Give me a day or 2. The .1 volts came when I stepped on the throttle and returned to 13+ when I let up on it.
