Ya, it's got a Turbo
Has anybody toyed with the idea of replacing their OE instrument cluster with a metric one? Correct me if I'm wrong but the Pontiac Sunbird Turbo used the same cluster and since they were available in Kilometers it would be a straight swap for Sy/Ty's that have moved up here.
Thoughts? :tup: or :tdown:

You are correct, about the sunbird cluster. A foreign cluster has been installed before though.. Take a look at the Saudi Sy's, they don't have the same one.

The Saudi's have ugly clusters. I had one of those in my 89 s-10. Plain & boring. I don't think they have a tach either, do they?
I was just wondering if it would be a "Plug & Play" deal, or if the terminals might have different values.

I thought about doing that same thing to my Sy wayyyyy back in the day when I bought it. But the MPH gauge grew on me and I never bothered. You just kind of get used to the conversion in your head after awhile.

I'm not too worried about the conversion. I just though it might be "different" and appropriate since the vehicle is now in "metric-land"...

They do have them with a tach in them. I have seen a couple at the wreckers.

Thought same thing since here Japan is also Metric Land, and found some km/h gauges.

That looks cool... What did you use for calibration & material?

Another question that just occured to me; do the Sunbird clusters go up to 200KPH?

What about a gauge cluster from a Grand National? Would that be a swapable project? I like the digital lights for the RPM and boost...

I believe that one was custom made. You'll have to ask him...
