LOL, well let me tell you this, I dont' think NC or NY, with the exceptoni of NYC holds a candle to Seattle and the cost of living in that rain cloud...that is why I say cheap...everything, to me, is compared to Seattle...so short of San Fran., NYC, and maybe a few places in CA or FL...everything else is cheap.

I totally hear you on the NY taxes thing...

I find it totally amazing that you can own a 500K house in Seattle and pay 3-5K in property taxes a year...you can own a 250K house in Rochester, which is like a house on a lake in many places, and pay 10-15K in property taxes a year.

Consider this.........NY is a major blue state run by the Demon-craps...this is all a result of big Gov..........sure they got a great education system...........and many many many more soical systems that steal from the rich to support and perpetuate poverty!

Dont' you just love socialism!

What part of the state are you moving to? We've got a nice gang of GM Turbo 6 owners here, and we try to have meets about every month. GM_TURBO6@yahoogroups.com is our group site, so join up for the mailing list so you'll know where/what we're doing. NC has a lot to offer, great place to live!

Re: moving to nc

I moved my little sister to Winston-Salem last week, and it was a nice area. I'd be hard-pressed to deal with the heat during the summer, but I was blown away with the property prices. That was the main reason she moved. She landed a job making slightly more money than she was, and take a quick peek at what $140k gets you where she used to be in Vermont, then where she is now....

NORTH CAROLINA

VERMONT

Status, and keeping up with the Jones's isn't the most important thing in the world by any means, but she didn't want to piss money away anymore renting, and as long as she was going to have to come up with downpayment money for a house, she'd prefer it didn't have tailights. -30 degree winters and constantly escalating cost-of-living drove her from Vermont; kinda sucks, but you gotta do what you gotta do sometimes. Best of luck with the move man, and keep in touch!!!!!

Re: moving to nc

rockhill is only 45min to 1 hour from me... woohoo. actually rockhill is a pretty nice place to live...30 min from charlotte.....given traffic, cheaper than charoltte to live and has access to tons of great jobs. brian welcome to the south....the best place on the planet. now we have to see if we can convert you to a sophisticated redneck.lol

NY SUCKS!!!!! I can barely afford to rent let alone own a place anywhere around here. And its not like theres many jobs around that can support all my bills. Looks like i'll be living at home for a while longer

Blue state, what do you expect? High taxes for the general good of all right?

I couldn't agree more. The people that don't work, don't pay taxes, and don't have motivation to improve their situation in life shouldn't have to live like poor folks and be looked down on by the public. They should be fully entitled to free healthcare for them and their family, free food, free rent, free transportation and a little spending money. They should be entitled to have everything that I work 60 hours a week for. :shoot:
