Re: my small project

octane booster. Makes the exhaust smell like paint thinner but the octane goes up. I mixed 2 1/2 gallons with a tank of 91 and it got rid of my KR back before I did my mods. Kinda a pain to dump it in. But it worked.

Wow, that's sweet. Kinda what I thought. You're not gonna use it? If not, I'm down, sounds great.

Re: my small project

Gary, will around 3:30 for 4 work for you? I should be done with my stuff by then for the most part. Adam and I could hop in his Sy and cruise out your way if you'll be around.

Re: my small project

Hey Gary I was just going through this whole thread again and looking at your pics, I never saw one that had any type of scoop for you A2A. Just wondering if you had one that wasn't on at the time or maybe you don't?

Re: my small project

Re: my small project

Alky is the $hit!! Bought some today. installed some ur5's gapped to .028. Truck did not like the small gap without the alky. with it on it ran great. Still needs some fine adjustments. I was boosting 20lbs with no KR. It was a cold night so I have to see how it does in the daytime heat. IAT's were very low. I opened the hood and touched the a2a pipe at the TB and it was very cold :D
I adjusted the Tv cable and my trans shifts very hard. I mean Very hard. I thought it shifted hard before?? on normal driving It will go to about 2800-3000 from 1st and drop to 2nd hard. I have never been in another syty so I dont know if thats normal. Yes I know it suposed to shift hard, but hell it hurts when it shifts :) On a 40 min drive with outside temps aroud 50-60 deg. my trans temp never went over 170 city driving.

Re: my small project

it was my engine rebuild fund. I have been putting away 100$ a week(wife did not know!haha) since about 3 months after I got my SY for a rebuild. I figured in 3 years I would call RPM. :D

Re: my small project

1st question. now that my garage is clean and I am finaly moved in its now time to start the truck. I will be changing the trans, heads and motor mounts. The question is how should I jack up the car. I normaly use my ramps to do work. I jacked it up to do the turbo, brakes and a2a because I knew I needed accesss with the wheels off. Whats the best way to put the Sy in the air?
let the fun begin. I have never dropped a trans. any tips on droping it?? Thanks

how tall is the garage?

back it in, use jack stands, when dropping trans, you should pull it out with transfer case. going to be a nice winter project.

Re: my small project

It all depends on how you're gonna go about the job. Are you gonna pull the motor? I'm glad I did because I found a bunch of little stuff that I don't like and it gives me a chance to change it with ease. If your not pulling the motor I work think Branden's idea is probably the best. Just get the back as high as you so you can get the tranny out. If your gonna pull motor and tranny your gonna need to get the whole thing in the air, but not too high.

Re: my small project

I was thinking front on the ramps and rear on the jacks but If I need acces to the front wheel wells? I might have to get another set of jacks. Having all 4 corners on jacks scares me for some reason. i would love to pull the motor but if I do I will spend more money and its tight right now. I do have leaks and stuff I would love to fix but If I pull the motor I will end up with a full build. :)

Re: my small project

You have to rename this thread to "My Expensive Project" or something because it's not small anymore and im sure your wallet will reflect that :)

Re: my small project

Are you pulling the motor to change the mounts or not? If yes wait till you have it out it will be way easier, if no then take a bunch of pictures so you can see how everything is routed to put it back.

Did you already get new head, intake, plenum gaskets, red high temp rvt?
