I just read your whole thread; great job so far! What are you waiting for right now, heads and trans? Did you run your truck at the track before you started modding it? I can't wait to hear how it runs with your new setup. BTW I'm an electrician too.

Yeah that is a high volume pump (M55HV). Not the recommended replacement for several reasons. Do a search for M55A or Z28 pump.
1. People have noted oil starvation due too to much oil being pumped (pan emptied).
2. Clearance issue. That pump body is taller. To get adequate pickup clearance with the bottom of the pan, the pickup will have to sit at an angle to the bottom of the pan, not parallel. Adding to the potential of sucking air, not oil.
If you try to set the pickup parallel to the oil pan rail, the pan will not sit all the way down. Then when you tighten the pan down the only clearance you have is the height of those 3 little raised bumps in the bottom of the pan. This can also restrict oil flow.

Have a nice set of l35 heads. 2.02 1.60.
I need a few more parts for the engine.
Trans I need about 1500 to finish. Hope my x-mas bonus will cover that.
stock with pitbull chip and aux IC it did 13.3 from previous owner.
Looking for low 12's. Compression was good and the pistons and rods look fine so I wont touch them due to cash flow. Even the chain looked fine with just a small amout of play. Feel better about the double going in. This is my first time doing something like this. SO if I can do it anyone here can.

I almost moved my ticket up there. Had a good deal on some land so I was going to get out of the bay but my wife wanted to get back together.
This project (If I ever get it done) will show that any average guy can do this. With help of this site and some good friends.

Mike said his pump is the high pressure type. I will get it along with the rockers and pushrods. Still could use any advice on installing the heads. Looks like I got some OT comming up this weekend More cash to spend. My wife still says it wont ever run again.

Yeah, my buddy says the same about my truck, "Oh, that truck will never run again!" He's just being stupid because he never has any motivation to work on his stuff. Remember the key is to only think and do things in small stages as to not get overloaded. Don't think of the truck being done, just think, ok I need to just do this today and make it a small task then you always get more done then you wanted.

Got to spend a little time on the Sy today. Took me about 2 hours by myself to remove rear driveshaft and take out the crossmember and trans. When I took the TV cable off it looked to be not conected to the hook in the trans. either that or it came off real easy? The trans and TC has the trans shop stamped on it with a 2/3/05 date. Any way I can tell if the tc is still good. If so I will try to sell it. Thanks here are a few pics. BTW its f-ing heavy. and yes I carried it by myself!

My girl said that for a long time too, but I’m almost done, and that is all that matters. One question Why L35 and not Vortecs? I had the same conversation with mike about the oil pump too. I hope it works well. The pump primed just fine, I start my motor for the first time tomorrow after work (I hope). Good luck man, she is looking great :tup:

for what I was wanted the vortecs were over kill. The price was a bit high. The l35 flowed at 220ish. Cant remember what my friend said again. He checked them at his work for me. In a few years when I have the cash I might do vortecs. Right now I am holding 1.6million in home loans and thats killing me.
Good luck with the startup tomorow. Hope everything goes good.

hey Gary, looks like you're gettin a bunch done. i got my truck back together. it's got a couple of small leaks. i wanna take it out for a few dm runs and see whether it wants to blow up or not. i should bring it by along with my laptop whenever you're got some free time.

yeah. LMK when. Roy is in town(black knight) he just called me. Have you took your Ty for a test drive yet? I have the last set of parts comming from rpm this week. I should be putting it together soon and have the engine done by the end of the month. George hopefully will have my trans done by mid feb. Thinking I need to rent a corvette because not having a fast vehicle is driving me nuts.
