Okay syty guys. I need your help. I'm building a 67 Nova with a syty chassis LS1 and T56.

Yes it will be AWD.

To avoid chopping up one of your beloved true syty's I am chopping up a 94 Bravada.

The problem I'm having at the moment is that the track width on the Bravada is wider than that of the Nova.

I know you guys are often swapping on late model corvette wheels and that brings the track in some but can anyone tell me what wheel out there will bring the front track width in as far as possible?

I have corvette C-6 wheels on mine, 17X 9.5 on all 4 & has pretty much A flat face on them, but the back spacing is going to be A issue clearing the brake calipers. I would get A tape measure & check your back spacing were it is going to clear brakes & frame so you can run A narrow wheel.

Couldnt you just have the front axles cut/rewelded/balenced and narrow the whole front clip some ?

How far off are you? You may need to shorten the frame width. sounds like a cool project. pics would be cool if you can.

Yeah. I'll get some pics up soon. I cant actaully bring the frame rails closer cause that will screw up the motor mounting situation. I have considered cutting/welding the the front axles but that means I'll also have to narrow the control arms. Doable but expensive. As far as the back goes I'm keeping the stock nova rear end not using the syty stuff so making the corvette wheels work back there should not be too much hassle.

Baisically I'm trying to find out how much narrower I can get the front just by changing wheels. I'm trying not to use to many custom parts.

if you had an 8" wide wheel with a +100mm offset (basically completely flush, not even sure they make them), you would gain about 2 5/16" on each side. Again, that is a maximum, probably unrealistic number, but if you need to bring it in less than that, you might have some options.

Thanks for that.

Of the factory offered wheels that you know to exist either corvette or something else, what wheel is the closest to that which you described and how much would that wheel bring it in?

youre on your own with that one dude. Corvette and Camaro wheels on our truck need spacers in the back, the front is usually direct bolt on with no problems. Youll probably have to go custom is my guess. The best thing for you to do is find out how much you need to bring it in first, then find a wheel that meets your needs.

How much would you guess the corrvette or camaro wheels are narrowing the track width?

Oh. I see. yeah I have a ton of options for the back. Its the front that I'm having trouble with. I need to bring it in about 1 to 1 and a half inches on either side for a total of 2-3"

I guess I'm left to custom A-arms and front shafts.

are you just trying to get the tires inside the fenders? can you roll or flare the fenders some to make it look like they're more flush.

It would be cheaper and easier to find or have a wheel made with the backspacing you need. Plus replacing parts would be cheaper and easier. you don't need to run vette wheels, there are many oem and aftermarket options out there. just find one that suites you.

I'm seriously considering the custom A-arm route. It will be more expensive but after I do that I will have a lot wheel choices available. I dont think custom wheels would be cheap anyway.

I just started thinking about the clearance though. After I narrow the front are my wheels to rub when I'm turning or is my turning radious going to have to be increased?

Why not run steel rims with a nice center cap? You can get the offset changed to pretty much what ever you want to, and then later on, save up some cash and get some nice aluminum ones made.

Norm, What steel wheels are you taliking about? How would you go about changing the offset?

DaveP I didnt really understand what you meant by " 10 per mile front/rear." What is the 10 refering to.
I'm not using the syty rear just the front half of the chassis. My Nova rear is also narrower than the syty rear. I should be able to keep the fron a little wider than the rear. How much wider should it be?

Correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like I need a 16x8 with an offset right around +70mm. That should bring me in a little more than an inch on either side.

Anyone know the cheapest source for a custom wheel?

Not sure what city you live in,but in my city there's a wheel shop that will take a steel rim and wided it and make what ever offset you need.Maybe check your yellow pages and see if you have anything like that.

I dont have anything like that. I live in southern Oregon. Maybe you could give me the name and number to your wheel shop?
