Need help with TV cable bracket adjustment (different kind o

Recently I fixed a problem with my throttle not opening all the way. When I reinstalled my transmission I used a new TV cable. The dilemma I have now is when I go WOT, it will pull the TV cable out of adjustment. I'll get it adjusted for perfect shifts at part throttle to almost 90% throttle, but it will ratchet out just a bit too much at WOT and the shifts go soft. I thought about shimming the TV cable bracket (just the part with the TV adjuster/not the whole bracket)so the adjuster was about a 1/4" closer to the throttle body so it would stay in adjustment. Does this sound like the right thing to do?
Thanks so much for any help.
George

I'm sure you thought of this before but if you have a 9 year old truck and it has been driven a bunch the throttle cable is more than likely stretched Like the TV was. When replaced the new one will take up the slack so you can remove the shims. After that they both should be in sync together. GM #15637756 good luck! Give me a call sometime this week, I'm between terms at college and have a week off! Later.
