Is there another way to tell what block I have? The machined area has no markings that I can tell. The motor is susposed to be original Sy motor. It has the Sy pistons and main caps. According to the Holy Grail post the Tonawanda amd Romulus blocks the rods want enterchange. I will be using L35 rods for the build or might end up with Eagle H beams. Stay right at the 400 HP range so dont really see spending the extra $ for the H beam rods. The money I save could be used to 4 bolt the block. According to everything I've read the L35 rods will be fine. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

i would think the l35 rods would be fine up to the 500 hp level.
btw i was the one who posted the 4.3 holy grail info.
i have the original book here, and i have too many 4.3 motors around to count.

If its an original Sy block the pads on the driverside would TM880xxxx I believe the T stands for Tonawonda, M (1991) and the rest of the numbers matching the VIN. If you have the Nodular Main Caps & the pistons those are really the only unique parts. From what I understand the SYtY is hte more desirable of the cranks, but those can be readily found in non balance shaft 4.3's.
