New front suspension being installed

I think it is time I clear up some stuff, as my previous post has been linked to this thread and relates closely.

Some background: I have an engineering degree, many engineer coworkers, and many tools at my disposale for advice, etc.

I posted the thread about the heims a few weeks ago, as I was concerned more about the safety of syty owner, and NOT trying to put someones product down. I have been helping someone with their suspension, noticed the joints, and having the catalogs available did some research on them. That is when I noticed the heim in question, and debated. I came to the conclusion if a truck was to fail, causing injury to a person, I would feel guilty knowing I could have possible given warning. The heim may be totally adequate, it might not. In MY OPINION, and my engineering background I don't feel 14k lb ultimate strength is. You can do all sorts of testing on computer (finite element analysis, etc.) do the math etc, but estimating loads in dynamic situations, CAN NOT BE DONE reliable with math, it takes testing etc.

I could go into some math to help my point, but I might confuse more than help.

Ask anybody that has bought anything from me, or dealt with me. I believe in being 100% honest. Good bad or ugly, i will tell you the situation HONESTLY. I think any vendor syty related or not, should do the same.

I do offer a service though, for the benefit of the group, if the 2 people in question should want. As I do have access to some testing software, I can draw of feed a solid model of both designs into our software, and post results giving everybody some raw data information. Again, simulation is only 1 way to base a design. Lots more involved.

Don't get me wrong, I DO NOT ever try to put another vendor down, you won't find me posting in reqards to issues like that. I WILL though post pure information, if I should see a safety concern, or have data to add.

IMO both design are fine. If heims will last we shall see. I have my preferences, but that doesn't matter.

Howard,

Very impressive kit. I would like you to send me an email if possible. I'm interested in a front kit for project typhoon. The pics looked nice, quality looks even better.

And Dave (syclone #892),

Yes you have been very patient, as have all the other people who purchased my IC kit, so thank you. I'm not sure when I missed any emails of yours, and if so I appologize. I think everyone has found out I am hard to get ahold of on the phone, so its best to email me for tech questions, order status etc.. One thing I would like to point out though is when I charge a card or collect money, it is usually when I am shipping. I dont charge a 50% deposit, then delay shipping a product for months. So it's entirely up to the customer if it's worth the wait. I try to keep as much product on the shelf, but with such a limited market it's tough.

You ask, and you will recieve:

I have had the Coil-over kit on my truck for about 10K miles. Apart from having issues with the alignment shop that hooked it all up, Ive NEVER doubted the kit.

Its superior in handling. Ive been in 3 other trucks with kits on, and NEVER doubted their kits either.

I have only seen pictures of Howards suspension, so I will not comment on it.

I see two things happening at Al's shop:

1) Al's phone rings off the hook constantly. Al mostly answers and takes the call. Whether he sells that caller a product or not, THAT downtime has cost him time making kits. When he doesnt take a call, he risks losing a sale. Simple opportunity cost example.

2) You call Al to check on your order. Point #1 applies and you have just screwed yourself from getting the kit in your hands faster.

Suggestion:

While you are free to call and inquire about a product, please keep in mind Al works all day, everyday. The words "are you busy, can you talk?" are very intelligent words when you call ANYONE.

If I need to remind Al something, I call him after hours and leave it on his voicemail. That way, he gets the message first thing in the AM and Im not bothering him.

And yes, I would rather have someone be slower and produce quality, than rush unthoughtout plans producing lost money and headaches.

As far as my design being hard to align, well you have not seen it or you would have realized that it also using the stock alignment

The feedback about the performance of your front suspension is useful and appreciated. I'm happy that you're satisfied with your choice.

The stuff about Al being too busy too answer the phone, or answering the phone causing him to fall behind in his work - c'mon, don't insult our intelligence. Probably most of the calls are from people wondering where the heck their stuff is after months of deceit and broken promises. Are you telling me that Al did in fact have my stuff ready to ship for months but being on the phone kept him from shipping it? Hooey. He lied. He said the stuff was boxed up for immediate shipment, collected the balance, then nothing for over a month - probably would still have nothing so I cancelled the order. And that after already being jerked around for 6 months.

Successful business practices must include proper customer service and time managenment strategies. The fact that Dustan needs you to make excuses for him speaks for itself.

My advice: Take the time to educate yourself about the various options available. Then find a vendor who knows how to build a quality product within a reasonable time frame without undue bullshit. Whether you decide that vendor is Dustan, PEP, Comp Fab, or whoever - that's your choice.

Saying he is on the phone all day is well, an excuse, hire some help if you are that busy, that way he can train someone how to do the suspensions or whatever, i used to do everything myself when i first started my bus. and it grew and now i have 6 people working for me . You have to have help .

Mike I only said I couldn't reach you by phone you have always answered my emails, the thing I said was you never sent me an email saying the exact prices and what card # you had, you said you would right away when I talked to you on the phone because you were to busy to do it at the time to do it then but like I said I don't really mind and I will defiantly be buying from you again as will I be buying from Al again in fact pretty soon. Thanks Merk for the info on Als setup and I can understand the phone ringing off the hook at my wor we usually have 5 people to sell stuff and answer phone and it is always ringing.

Howard,

I'm not defending anyone here but myself. Someone on this thread asked for an opinion...I gave it to them. Nothing was directed at you or at anybody. I mentioned what I see when Im at Als.

If you dont like my opinion, dont f-n ask for it.

That's what I was thinking - didn't he just post about his new kit a few months ago?

Are they alot of highway miles? If so, how does the suspension ride on the highway?

All highway miles. Been doing lots of travel lately.

Suspension is very responsive to the highway...especially offramps and onramps.
