I think it is time I clear up some stuff, as my previous post has been linked to this thread and relates closely.
Some background: I have an engineering degree, many engineer coworkers, and many tools at my disposale for advice, etc.
I posted the thread about the heims a few weeks ago, as I was concerned more about the safety of syty owner, and NOT trying to put someones product down. I have been helping someone with their suspension, noticed the joints, and having the catalogs available did some research on them. That is when I noticed the heim in question, and debated. I came to the conclusion if a truck was to fail, causing injury to a person, I would feel guilty knowing I could have possible given warning. The heim may be totally adequate, it might not. In MY OPINION, and my engineering background I don't feel 14k lb ultimate strength is. You can do all sorts of testing on computer (finite element analysis, etc.) do the math etc, but estimating loads in dynamic situations, CAN NOT BE DONE reliable with math, it takes testing etc.
I could go into some math to help my point, but I might confuse more than help.
Ask anybody that has bought anything from me, or dealt with me. I believe in being 100% honest. Good bad or ugly, i will tell you the situation HONESTLY. I think any vendor syty related or not, should do the same.
I do offer a service though, for the benefit of the group, if the 2 people in question should want. As I do have access to some testing software, I can draw of feed a solid model of both designs into our software, and post results giving everybody some raw data information. Again, simulation is only 1 way to base a design. Lots more involved.
Don't get me wrong, I DO NOT ever try to put another vendor down, you won't find me posting in reqards to issues like that. I WILL though post pure information, if I should see a safety concern, or have data to add.
IMO both design are fine. If heims will last we shall see. I have my preferences, but that doesn't matter.
