Non starting Typhoon after long term storage

Hi all, its been like over a year since I had a look in here so apologies as my first post back is looking for advice!

My Typhoon has been in storage for several years, it shifted location about a year ago but has probably only covered 5 miles in the last 5 years.
I managed to get it started about 6 weeks ago after replacing the distributor cap and rotor. It drove to my local garage where I had it looked over for the MOT test, but since then it has failed to start. I ordered and replaced the module within the distributor and have a new pick-up waiting to go in but it still does not spark.

When I had the cap and rotor off I noticed the star shaped 'thing' looked corroded and after wiggling the dome cover there was a light dusting of rust lying around.

So, any advice on how to get it sparking and maybe which part to replace next would be greatly appreciated, but I have a couple of questions first.

Should the metal dome cap covering the star shaped item simply pull off and will the star and connected shaft pull out of the distributor or does the complete distributor need to be removed to allow the new pick up ring to be fitted.

Cheers.

No spark is usually the ignition module or pickup coil. However, before you replace the pickup (you will have to remove the distributor to replace it) look at the magnet inside the star shaped piece. You will most likely find many cracks. These are no longer available thru GM.. meaning your only option is distributor replacement. On my truck once the distributor was removed I found the magnet was hitting the pickup coil when I spun it!

Good news is you can now get an ACDelco "reman" distributor that is basically a brand new unit with the aftermarket style redesigned magnet that won't crack. This is what I put in my truck... it was a special order part at the dealer. A lot of guys run parts store distributors and they seem OK.

Just a quick update!
So, ordered and fitted new distributor and bang it fired into life with what I can imagine a much fatter spark. But, since then (It's been stood outside for several weeks) it's decided not to spark again!
My aim is really just to get the truck MOT'd and up for sale so these issues are draining the life out of me!

Does anyone have a nice wiring diagram that I can use to start the diagnosis (AGAIN!) or any suggestions on the next part to check?

Thanks.
