POLL: Stock Black / Black, or Red / Red?

Planning the paint job for my typhoon. and i cant decided on if i should keep it black, because black Tys are sexy, or go Red, because Red Tys are sexy too, and there are far fewer than black/blacks. in fact ive never seen one in person. (i know i need to go to nats...)

ill be shaving the door handles / roof rack /gas door / rear window latch if that would sway anyones opinion.

and either way it probably wont be a stock GM red or black, but not too far off. probably just a deeper color either way.

well Im a big fan of a nice deep black vehicle but that sucks if your gonna be using it as a daily driver it.. the red would prob be easier to keep it clean.

I wouldn't shave your door handles if you plan on running the truck at the track at all.. I do believe trucks/cars with shaved door handles aren't allowed to run well at least around here but I could be wrong.

Either way do what you want. Blacks prob most common so if you want to be different and stand out I guess go with a custom red.

i would keep it close to stock color that way u don't need to worry about door jams etc etc. save you some money and look just as good if not better than red

I'd stay black/black, cause like Ted said, door jams, inner fenders, tail gate jam, the list goes on and on, will need to be painted in order to do it right.

Go black / black; it'll make my red / gray rarer To each his own with the shaving etc., but my $0.02 is to leave em stock looking; isn't that part of the appeal of these trucks?

the jambs arent a big deal. im doing a body swap with a blazer so i have a perfect body instead of the fucked up one i have now, and when i gut the blazers interior, i will be doing the jambs. possibly the entire interior so that the sound deadener has a nice surface to stick to.

the only reason im shaving it is because i dont like the way that stuff effects the body lines. the curvy, smooth, sleek... wait, wrong car. the boxy 90 degree... lol i was thinking of converting to C5 corvette door handles, but i think that would cost more than shaving em. im not big on going to the track since it costs $35 to get in, i usually ony get 4 runs, and i almost always do really badly. :x

im a really weird guy. i love the fact that not many people have Tys, and that was a HUGE reason i bought one. thats why im considering something other than black. its also the reason im getting sick of my Z06 wheels. they are becoming popular on all S-series trucks, and i like to be diffrent.

i did really like that Ty from tennessey that was like a baby blue with silver cladding, and while i think it looks amazing it dosent look mean. the only colors that i think look mean on Tys are Red and black. black looking meaner, but being more common.

http://www.tompaints.com/IM000725.jpg thats along the lines im thinking as far as red. it looks like it may have some yellow or gold pearl in it though, which i wouldnt do. as far as black, id just find the deepest darkest black i could find and do it that color. and i know that if all else fails, do like Mic says and paint it black. ive never seen a bad looking black Ty, so its easy to fall back on that.

If i was going all out, and could paint my truck any color, i mean including the door jams, the firewall everything..

id probably paint it, corvette electron blue..
or the deepest darkest black I could find, with some nice addins, I don't like flake, but something...

:lol: its no offense, just personal opinion. i dont even think white Tys look mean. but i do think all Tys look beautiful. ive even learned to love the teal ones

i was actually at a point where i had decided to copy your ty because it looks so good, but it looks more elegant than mean to me. but dont get me wrong it looks amazing and has many times been my desktop backgraound ::thumbsup:: and im still at a point where i still may do something like it. its just red/black are more in the brain right now.

and i was at applebees in 2003, but i was there about a week before you guys. i was there when marty got andys blazer on 2 wheels im gonna try like hell to make it to both nats this year though. 800 miles is not an easy drive to do twice in a month. it all depends on my work situation.

Paint it black with some ghost flames and dont shave the handles. Thats way if you decide to put it all back orignal later it wont be such a hard job....and you wont have to change your name..92BlkTy
