Also what part number plug are you using? I didnt notice much difference with the UR5's.

I hope someone will share input and opinion on this one cause I'm about to change plugs this weekend and not sure to go with the AC's or the UR6's

Serious about performance
I just tried switching to NGK UR5 "V-Power" (not like there is another type of UR5..) about two weeks ago and immediately I noticed my idle and very low RPM operation was improved (such as backing out of my driveway and shifting out of R into D, normally it drops really low and almost dies.) It seems like it was a real improvement at first then kinda went halfway back to normal in the next few days but that's still an improvement.

The CR42TS's from my stock Sy with 100k looked great after 20k miles on them, and I've never had any real problems with the truck. I just recently switched to the UR5's and it seems to run a lot smoother. I don't have any Datamaster runs or any hard proof, it just feels smoother. Then again, the old plugs did have 20k on them, so any new plugs probably would've felt smoother... I'll be sticking with the UR5's or maybe trying out the UR6's, and if I feel like spending the money at the time, I might go with the Iridiums...

Ty n 10s
I have had my ty since 1994 and used every plug that seemed to be the next best thing.
ATR's accell, Bosch platinum, cr42ts, (the best until..). I went with the ngk iridiums this last summer(ur5ix) and noticed a much smoother idle right off. I actually developed a miss later on and was thinking they gave out early so I was going to chang back to the 42s. I changed all but #6 (ATR's 3" DP was in the way) just to see if the miss was better before I pulled the exhaust. The ty barely could idle!! With the NGK's I only noticed a miss.

I pulled my exhaust to change the #6 and found out that the plug wire was not snapped in all the way! I put the NGK's back in.

Convinced me and some others that were with me. Staying with the NGK's. I never tried the ur5 V power, just the ur5ix iridium.

So, for a stock truck should you use the ur5, ur6, ur5ix, or the ur6ix (ix indicating iridium) for the best results? Also what gap .032-.035?
I tried the ur5 gapped to .035 and didnt see any difference.

I like the NGKs, I have the ur5's right now and am planning on trying out the iriduims next year when I take the truck out of storage. My truck has a pretty decent idle, I can not comment on any other plugs because my truck came with the ur5s so I have no reference point but I have had good luck with NGKs in the past. Also I changed the plugs with new NGKs just to see if it made any difference and the old plugs looked brand new and the had 10k or so on them. Sorry for the ramblings.

I just had to order those ur5ix plugs from sparkplugs.com. I called every parts store on long island. Nobody has them! These are hard to find. I hope they are worth the wait.

NGK UR6's seem to work well for me. I used to get an occasional miss at idle when I was using the stock AC CR42TS plugs.

I use the ur6 iridium and took away all of my idle problems i was having. but then again i found out that it had 5 champion plugs and a stock plug in the one across from steering bar(118k miles).

That #3 can be a bitch.

I have had UR6IX's in the truck for about a month. The truck does idle better (marginally - my truck has always been a decent idler) and seems a little perkier (not DM, just seat of the pants). I am really curious about the longevity.

FYI. Just talked to my bud that bought a ty that had new UR6s in it when he got it. We've been fighting KR, boost probs since hes had it...

Pulled the new UR6s out and put in 42s.. Knock went away and boost is rock solid now..

Go figure... Not trying to bash the NGKs but this particular truck didnt like em. Musta tasted bad or something??

i was having a slight miss ( not all the time)at idle with my stock ac plugs. pulled them and they looked perfect. had the light brown look to them. put in the ngk ur-5's and didn't notice any change at all. still a slight miss only not all the time.

I have installed the UR5s (0.34 gap) just last weekend and like them. My truck has always idle'd well, but it seemed to help. As prior posts state the truck does seem a little more perky in low RPM and boost is still soild at 17 PSI with a TE-44. I'll stick with the UR5s and might try the UR6 next time.
