I was going to say fuel pump as well.

I had the same problem 4 years ago, it would jsut get harder and harder to start, till one day it took about 2 mins to start and I could only drive it with more than a 3/4 tank of gas.

Best thing to do would be check fuel pressure when the engine primes (key on, engine off) and then see what its at while starting and when running.

Good point about FP. What you want to look for is if the FP drops off when you turn the key on,engine off(like already mentioned) So when you turn the key on the FP will jump to say 45psi, then make sure it stays within a couple pounds of 45psi within 5minutes. Let us know the results. Also does this happen after the vehicle has been sitting over night and then you try to start it in the morning?? Let me know

I was asked to post this for someone who cannot currently post at the momment.

"The reason the truck may crank for so long is because the fuel pump relay may be shot, so the fuel pump doesnt start until oil pressure builds and then the oil pressure switch engages the fuel pump. See if the pump primes when when you first turn on the ignition key (do not start), does the fuel pump whine for a few seconds? If so then the fuel pump relay should still be good. Just something to think about."
