I've got my heart set on running a powerglide mated to my stock transfer case. My new build will be in the 700 to 800hp range and weight a little under 3k . I've heard it's been done but have yet to find any proof? Any help pics appreciated!! Advanced adapters says there kit will not work with our transfer case?

Re: Powerglide adapter???? Help!

I'm pretty sure you may have to source/machine your own stuff. You could check with the offroad/rock crawler scene since they seem to run powerglides with transfercases. maybe novak adapters?

Stout74 may be able to machine something up as well.

Thanks, I've got a old glide I can get my hands on to see what I'll need. I guess I'll go from there!

1.76 and 1.0. But the first gear can be changed with the help of aftermarket, seen them from 2.08-1.68.

I was talking to Jason Bouchard the other day and he told me he will be running one also and he knows of a place that makes them. Woundup is his name here, send him a PM and I'm sure he can point you in the right direction:tup:

Clocking of transfer case may be off, but at worse case a few bolt holes could adjust it back to the right angle.

Re: Powerglide adapter???? Help!

I just went to check out the powerglide transmision my father gave me from one of his gto. It's a bop pontiac style with a narrow case which looks like it will give the nessesary prop shaft clearance. This glide has a 6 in. Tailhousing with the same 4 bolt pattern as our stock 4x4 adapter. I brought the tailhousing home and it matches the stock adapter perfectly. Looks like I will just need to shorten the output shaft about 2.5 inches which will still leave enough spline contact for the transfer case input. If not enough i will have it resplined. Tranny is still bolted in chassis with engine attached . He's gonna pull it for me this week so that I can get started with it. I will have it built locally by Neal chance who specializes in glides. The bop style is 22.5 inches long , minus tail housing. Very similar to 700r4 without tail. I'm so excited! Looks as if its gonna work for me! I will post pics hopefully by weekend with tfcase attached!

Code what?
You going to run it on a brake? Do you not have plans to drive it on the street? That low gear ratio in the glide would keep the 4.3 rev'd high wouldn't it

Yes plans are to run aprox a 4000 to 4500 brake. I'm running a solid roller cam that will peak at close to 7k. I don't think it will be much of a problem tooling around in 2nd gear with 1.00 ratio. Like cruising in 3rd with a 700. Im hoping for some entertaining launches!😄

Re: Powerglide adapter???? Help!

The way I see it, it would be like driving around in 2 & 3 all the time. Shouldnt be that bad on the street, but not ideal for gas milage....but at the track, with a big converter (4k) it should load the turbo real good and make lots of torque....I dont think this has been done with our application before (if it has I don't remember it), it is a good expirement and am looking forward to see his results.

What are you doing as far as the vacuum modulator (I think that's what it's called). The thing that acts like the TV cable but is operated under vacuum. I have a TH350 and a 3500 stall that I'd love to use, but that has me somewhat stumped. I figure under pressure it'd rupture the diaphragm?
