Proper Sy Ty Burnout??

Ok I dont see where anyone has asked this so I will.
Whats the best way (Or can you) do a burnout to heat up a set of 4 drag radials ??
Is it safe to do this?? Just getting my New ty together and will off to the stripe and I dont want to do anything dumb and blow the driveline to hell and back :roll:

I don't see why you would need to unless you have a BUNCH of power and have traction issues.

Plus it would take a lot of power to do a awd burnout. How much power are you putting to the ground in your truck?

Be careful, I remember reading about how the Chevy Typhoon in Europe was loaned to members of the automotive press and they ruined the 700R4 attempting to smoke the tires

You shouldn't need to do a burnout and its not really that easy to. I go around the water with my truck and lay down 1.6 60ft times on regular street tires. If you have to go through the water at your track of choice maybe just a quick boost launch to "dry" the tires before you stage it.

Cool now I was going to run Mickey T Drag Radial's but now Im thinking other wise :oops:
Maybe just a good Soft Radial will be better should handle better on the street to :)

11.50 can happen on street tires and AWD, no need for burnout.

If you have enough power to slip at start line then you won't have issue doing one in burnout box.

I've never used the Mickey T's but I've have great results with BFG drag radials on rear wheel drive cars. With the AWD a good set of street should be sufficient but that all depends on how much boost you launch it at. I went 1.6 60ft with Sumitomo street tires at 10psi launch. I'm making more power now and if I can ever get my truck running right I will take it back to the track and see if the tires still hold it...

Never liked the BFG I went 1.45 60 foot on the rear bumper in my GN on the MT and Hoosier Drag Radials ;) But you really had to heat them to hook up that good. And most drag tires are soft but hook best when heat is added.

I was also looking at the Nitto Drag Radials but I didnt like them on my GN they never seemed to hook well even with heating them up.

Ill do some looking and see what I can find. THinking a tire with AA Heat range and 140-180 tread life should hook pretty good MT are only 40 tread life :)
Witch Sumitomo are you running??

Dont really want to have to put a cage in the ty lol so 11.50 is my gut off if it goes faster fine but Ill have to let off before the 1/4 or Ill be banned again lol. I was with my GN and I only went 11.47 they said slow it down I didnt went back 1 hour later and went 11.22 man they were pissed ! :rotf: That winter I added the cage and all the safty gear and went 10.50's then I got sick of 10's and went 9.99 back to the shop to add more bars! OH AND I WAS ONCE AGAIN BANNED :rotf:

Et Street up front and alternating with the same in rear or pure slicks..

Yes U could smoke the tires but not do a regular burnout, or werry hard to do because of all tires rotating :D

Besides that, this action is verrry hard on the transmission, shafts and trans cace, besides axles and joints, so its more like trashing parts before a race/good run.

Unless you've got a real trans like an 80e its not worth trying. It sure is fun in the rain though!

green dots,a proper built 700 will work fine,lot of guys just dont know how to not kill a trans.you dont want to do a full smoke show,when them tires hook after the water box then stuff will break,but a quick fast loaded spin helps .Its gave me great 60fts on my stock and built motor

So build a little boost let off the brake spin and hit the brake before they hook then :)

With my old motor combo with ET's never once did a burn out or spun the tires to clean them, and I consistanly cut 1.30 60ft. These ET's dont like to be heated that much even when you can do a burnout. :2cents:
