I pulled the engine out of my Sy today, first and last time! What a project when you leave the tranny in the truck, those 2 top tranny bolts are a bitch to get to.
I'm going to do a leak down test on Monday to see if i have any leaks in valves or rings. But i'm replacing bearings and rings anyway and all the gaskets and seals.

Tore my engine apart today, found #2 main bearing having a big scoore in it and same with the crank, so now i have to grind the crank sigh more $$ i did not count on. All the other bearings looks like new with 102K miles on the engine. The messed up bearing is most likely from some some jack ass try to fix an oil leak from oil filter adapter on engine with some blue silicone.

I'd suggest finding a new crank. You don't want to make the crank any more weak than it already is by grinding it down. I believe our crank is just a standard 4.3L crank. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

I agree with Brian.. get a new one, as far as I know the newer 4.3 cranks work fine as well. I'd get it treated somehow as well, use 4 bolt mains on the new motor.
