Daron and I pulled it out yesterday. No biggie. Can't wait to dive and take it apart! Thanks again Daron for coming over and helping out!

My pleasure Jesse. Let me know when you are going to bolt it back in. Also, tell your Ricer pal, thanks for the ride in the Screaming Honda. It was impressive.

I'm going over to Gary's today to get the universal clutch compressor. Between it and the tools Barry made up, we should be able to get everything apart and back together just fine. Got the ok from wifey to work on it all day Monday and she'll take on our little syco child  alone all day. If you start working on it before I get there:

If you clean the outside of the case, use duct tape and cover up all the holes, fittings, and electrical ports on the case before you clean it so nothing gets in them.

Don't use any shop towels or rags on anything inside. Use carburetor cleaner only and let it air dry. Lint from the towels can cause problems in the valve body. We'll scrub everything with scotchbright pads and douse everything in carb cleaner and back it up with the teflon containing valvebody cleaner I have.

I'll get some old sheets from work so we can lay stuff out.

Hey Jesse!
When you order that updated apply plate for the 3-4 stackup can you get me one also? The part number on Transonline was 8685044 to double check the ATSG. Can you get the #7 apply ring(I think that was what it was called) for me also? I'll give you some money next time I see you for this stuff. It doesn't make any sense why GM put the weaker #4 apply ring in the Sy and then put the heavy duty rear planetary with the oil slinger. Can't wait to put that sucker back together!!

Jesse is the man on organization! He acted like he had done this before. The polyurethane mounts came in today (3.1129G)$38+$5 shipping. They came with two short bolts. Not sure which two they would be(crossmember or tranny adaptor housing).
Jesse took a lot of good pictures. We went through about 5 extra large can of Gunk carbureter cleaner. Jesse tackled the valve body with carb clener and followed it up with the teflon coating type cleaner made for valve bodies and governors. Everything appeared to be in good shape except for the 2-4 band(burnt, blackened and cracked)and the forward clutches(felt crumbly like charcoal briquets)
We are trying to do all the mods that Brian has recommended as well as the extras that you people on the BB have discussed also. An example would be the the TV checkball(the largest checkball). Here is a link to that:
http://www.transonline.com/electroPublisher/website/index.cfm?pageID=1486
(this is an OUTSTANDING site)
The green "X" at the bottom shows the location where the large checkball is deleted. JWaller gave some insite into this.

Drilling the pump was easy. I wouldn't go with the 5/16 drill bit on the other side of the pump(the side the stator stays in)because you will hit the fluid passage next to the hole.
One little snag we ran into early. All those pump pullers you see advertised.Don't need em. Jesse's is an early Sy and his stator had NO groove to grab onto to pull the pump from the housing. I had to remove the parking linkage to gain acces to the reverse drum inside so I could take two large screw drivers and gently pop the pump loose from the case.
You guys let me know if this stuff is too boring and I'll abbreviate it. If you want, I'll try to document here what we did and problems we had.
