rear ends

So the ZR2 rear end is 4 inches wider then the Sy/Ty or any othe older body style 4X4 GM truck, right? Does that mean that if used on my '89 Jimmy, then I would be able to used the same offset rim on the back as is on the front? What about 1 off an LT1 equiped '97 Trans Am. I know it has posi and discs, the whole reason I want to swap, but how does the width compare to the 4X4 or Sy/Ty axle? It would be nice to just buy some 18x10's cut for a FWD, run the same size tire all the way around, and not have to remount and rebalance at every other rotation! Can I use the ZR2 8.5" off road axle with the panhard 3rd shock and swaybar off a ZQ8 equiped Extreme? Do either come factory with discs?

The only trucks that I know to come from the factory with discs are the 4dr luxury S-series. I'd be interested in seeing a Sy/Ty with the 8.5" locking diff, panhard equipped rearend. That would be a feat. Additionally if you could outfit them with discs then I'd be standing up clapping right now.
