Rear Glass broken

So I hit a bump and the rear hatch glass shatters. I'm about to start looking for a replacement, and started thinking about polycarbonate. Im looking at this for a few reasons.

1 possibly help with the ever present squeek.
2 weight.
3 It won't shatter again.
4 an excuse not to have the wiper or defroster.
5 getting rid of the lift supports, hafta figure something else out though

Has anyone used this stuff for this particular window?
Where did you get it?
Did you have any problems with it?

Re: Rear Glass broken

1. The latch squeks not the glass, wont' fix that.
2. You drive a 4k lb truck, do you think 5lbs will make a big difference.
3. Never heard of one shattering before, I don't think it will happen again.
4. You can get a window without wiper/defrost if you want.
5. No matter what window you gotta hold it up somehow. Stick of wood is a bit tacky and more cumbersome just to remove the rod.

lexan will flex, tweak, most likely leak and make more noise. There is a reason only race cars use it.

Scratches easy also.
