Rear WHEEL DRIVE?

Okay if you wanted to turn your truck into just rear wheel drive forever by taking off all the parts for AWD and just kept it RWD and all that good shit would it be faster?? Since it would be lighter but still have the HP?

Quicker and Faster!

It should be about 650 pounds lighter, after removing the torsion bar setup.

With a 5% gain in horsepower from losing the transfer case and front differential.

40 free horsepower - 650 pounds + better traction from drag radials and traction bars = maybe high 11's in near stock tune.

Why do you think McCoy's truck is quick?

Is that for real? Why aren't more people doing this then? If you can run an "11" second 1/4 mile with stock motor, shit! Thats flying! Why not do it?

I am thinking of doing this.
What all do i need to take off besides the transfer case, and propshaft. How hard would it be to do this and would i need a new ECM?

Why have a syclone? You can sell the Sy with AWD and with the money you can buy a S-10 and make it really fast in RWD.

How to convert your SyTy into an S-10/S-15 Truck:

Remove transfer case, front driveshaft and all other parts associated with AWD and what makes it unique.

Buy expensive drag radials that last for less than a year so you can have traction in the top of 2nd gear.

Learn to fear AWD vehicles at the stoplights because you have removed your ability to be king of the street.

Learn to be afraid to have fun in the rain.

Learn to start losing races...you may win a few from a roll, but you don't drive on the highway all of the time.

HTH!

There are pros and cons to everything. If you're main goal is to be fast on the drag strip then 2 wd with big drag tires on the rear would be better. If you're interested in handling and curves, then AWD is much better. If you looking for all around street performance it's somewhere in between. My opinion is for practicallity and on the oily streets from red light to red light, the AWD gets the nod. I think on a stock truck, going to 2 wd would calculate a 1 sec. reduction in the 1/4 mile, not in the 11's.

I didn't say I wanted to do this. I know the 4 wheel drive makes the truck unique that is why I am leaving the truck the same. I just wondered some of the pros and cons. It seems as if there are more cons than pros.
