I am in winnipeg and I want to buy one of these trucks, I am wondering about the reliability of these trucks? Whats a good price range? how hard is it to find parts in canada? and where to find aftermarket parts?

any help would be most appreciated.

They are reliable until you drive them under boost. You can find them for $10-14k for a decent one. Parts are fairly readily available except for certain discountinued pieces. Plenty of aftermarket vendors for most anything you'll need - check out the vendor's forum on this site.

There's quite a few of us up here in Canada, I wouldn't be too scared about buying one, unless you gonna drive the crap out of it! I drive mine all over, it's not my daily driver though. Mike's right about the 10-14k though, but you still have to import it and pay a few fee's to get it up here, it's kinda a long drawn out process. As far as parts go most are standard s-series stuff and the rest you can get through board members privatly or through some of the members stores like RPM, Turbotime,Detroit Turbo etc. HTH

Keep in mind that $10-14k is American. If you were to purchase a truck for 13k US, you'd be looking at about 20-23k CND by the time you pay taxes and exchange plus a few little fees for importing and such. I bought mine for 13k US two years ago and by the time all was said and done I think the truck cost me 21,500-ish CND.

Syty's are like anything else that 13 years old. It really depends on who owned them before and how well they were maintained and cared for.

I have a white Ty that I will be putting up for sale in the next month or so if your interested. I'm in Alberta, so all the import BS is taken care of for you.

PM me for details.

if you are interested in dependability i would buy one that has a lot of modifications. if you leave them stock and don't run the crap out of them they aren't too bad. beat em up and they will fight back...

I am hoping Les was drinking a bit and meant to say "Buy one that DOESN'T have a lot of modifications"

Lots of mods, and new owner usually is trouble.
