Remote trans filter compatibility

My Permacool remote trans filter lists the Fram (for reference) PH8A or PH43 as correct filters. Problem is both of them are plenty bigger than the adapter, and space is non-existent. Though one's shorter, it's not the length that's the problem. I found a PH46 that'll fit and is the same diameter as the adapter so it'll fit w/ minimum hassle. Aside from physical size is it safe to assume that a filter with the same size and thread inlet is capable of acceptable flow? I know the smaller filter will not last as long as a bigger one, but I change the fluid when I change my engine oil,so no problems. Thanks,

Make sure you get a filter that can handle the high pressure that the tranny is capable of generating.
Otherwise you'll have something that looks like a Jiffy-Pop container.

Moroso or Fram (HP series), either have high PSI models.
