Re: RenzFab WrenchFest - Saturday May 2nd, 2009
We've started our transformation of the shop. The large pit at the one end is being filled with shelves for storage and concrete will be poured over top so that that floor is level with the existing floor. We are leaving an open area with steps that can be used as a pit. We also picked up a two post challenger lift that will be installed. I figured I'd post some pics in this thread and maybe we can look at having another meet once its all done..
Just about the entire pit area was filled with foam cubes and a few tires.... We rigged up 6' tall sides on this trailer and took 3 loads of foam cubes to the dump. The load or tires weighted in at 2 tons..
Once we got it cleaned out we had to chip out the entire first row of cinder blocks so that we can make the floor low enough to pour 6" of steel reinforced concrete over it..
It took us a full day with a 20lb impact hammer just to get the blocks out. Many were poured and some had rebar in them.
This beam will make the left side of the pit.. It was a joy to move/set..
We are setting carrier beams now and the floor will be built over them:
I'll post more pics as we progress. My dad is a perfectionist so I can guarantee that everything will be quite nice when we are finished. You guys won't recognize the place when we have another meet..
