So what did it end up running? I know it ran a couple low 9's but did it break the 8's? Either was its a fast legit truck, which suprised me and many people. There is no doubt an 8 sec truck there, thats for sure. Now there won't be any questions when he shoots for the 7's over in Sweden :).

Truckless. For now.

I believe the official low ET was 9.06 for Robert and 10.03 for John.

I don't know the MPH, 60' etc though. I was too busy holding a camera most of the time.

And I may not be exactly right on Robert's time, but I do know John's is right. :)

Neither truck should have trouble running consistent low 9's, even 8's when they are both tuned right.

Robert did not have enough runs to hit the 8's. Too much BS. Both John and Robert have amazing trucks.

Robert came to put an 8 on the boards for you guys. The track was just not sticky enough for the 1 and only run we got to make to make it happen.

Well, either way I still have faith its an 8 sec truck. I am sure he suprised me and many other people, no doubt that there is a legit fast truck, I am glad he came from Sweden just to prove this to us !!!!

Re: Roberts Syclone

Trust me, the best for both Robert and myself was the drive back to the hotel. Nothing like cruising in a quick truck home on the freeway.

I was inside, but the witness report said when he got on it on freeway it left 4 black marks.

Note to Colorado: The truck is 100% legal in the US, per EPA letters, etc. No need to call the US. Govt, DMV, local KC police, etc. We were legal for driving on the street in the US.

...without giving up any trade secrets,
was Roberts only run on motor-only, or with nos? High boost?
It sounds like his setup has a lot left....and that he was having fun, rather than
going bonkers in trying to make 8s...but not much has been said about the tuning effort
involved at KC.

thanks in advance
Larry.

I would be curious to know what part of Robert's build was JS manufacturing a part of. Sometimes in these posts it seems as though Jeff built the truck and Robert just drives it for him.

Could someone clear this up for me!

FAR from the truth. Jeff Scott was a major reason Robert was able to get his truck here. He took them under his wing and helped out in many ways. (transportation etc) Robert has owned his truck for many years and had 10+ magazine articles hanging outside the trailor dating back into the 90's to prove it.

Robert and crew do their own work, and make their own parts when they can.

I specifically remember listening to Robert when he said he wanted to be the first to break the 8's. He did that over in Sweden and wanted to here in the U.S. but was unable to for obvious reasons. More than anything he wanted to attend the SyTy Nationals and meet all of the people that make up the Nats every year. Can't wait to see him next year.

Re: Roberts Syclone

Now here is a question. Is there ANY chance of Robert making a sequal to this years action-adventure-drama?

Also, planning ahead, are there going to be problems with tech next year at nats? i know its too early to really know for sure, but for those of us who didnt attend this year, what can we expect if we plan on attending next year? as my truck sits now, it will not nhra tech for the times it runs. i really dont want roll bars sticking out my back windows, but...

Re: Roberts Syclone

Tech at the track was super light, with the exception of the two super fast trucks.......Seems kinda odd that they have all the scrutiny, and I was able to make a pass in someone elses truck...IN SHORTS, with NO battery tie down, and 2 gallons of methanol in the rear hatch.....Oh yea, the truck went over 105mph on that run.

SOOO SOO glad that the tech was so on top of things...NOT.....In all reality had they not had a "heads up" they probably would've done the same for Roberts truck.......

Re: Roberts Syclone

the 9.06 was w/o NOS. In fact although we planned to spray I don't think he ever did.

On the last run the track was so slick he lost .1 seconds on the 60ft and was a bit worried something was wrong going down the track with all the popping and noises going on in the right lane. He wasn't sure if it he stayed in it or not.

Friday night track was a lot better, but that is to be expected as street tires tear up tracks.

As for tuning, the only changes made were to remove the rev limiter he put on for shipping. In fact his laptop was left in the tow rig all weekend.

The truck has been in my hands for weeks and I still have it, have ridden in it, built parts for it, driven it. I don't know shit ignore me.

Robert does all his own work. Svenne and Anders help when needed, but in the end it is Roberts work you saw and Roberts idea's.

Robert is a class act. Actually more class than me and 1 of the reasons you have NEVER seen him get into these BS discussions.

My post is not a jab at you Jeff so swallow your pride and try to have a conversation. Robert's truck is a performer so what parts of yours does he use since they apparently are helping lead to the performance it has? Driving and storing it do not make it what it is today so why did you even include that in your reply?

Nats are over so let's move on and bury the past.

Where have I posted I did anything or taken credit for his times, ets, performance?

I said I built parts for it, did I say there make it run fast? Does it matter?

Robert built the truck, drives the truck and makes things happen. Of course he has bought parts from several sources. Did he just bolt them on and go, NOPE. It is the combination and attention to detail that ROBERT puts into that truck.

The question came though why I keep answering questions about his truck. Aside from Robert, who knows about the truck more than I do? I don't know everything but Robert is my great friend and we have discussed his truck in detail. If someone is asking a question about the build and I can answer shouldn't I?

I agree, lets put the shit behind us.

Here is the story

  • Robert wanted to bring his truck to the US to Race
Him and I agreed to make it happen. (I didn't get paid a dime to do this guys, I did it for a GREAT friend nothing more)
  • Robert wanted the US people to see his truck run, race, met the people etc. He didn't want to talk smack and be in the middle of this childish drama.
  • Some people got jealous and tryed to stop him from racing, by calling NHRA, etc. (i have enough sources to know this is a FACT aside from what is said)
  • We showed up, tryed to be the better person here both introducing ourselfs and trying to calm the mood.
  • I got cold shouldered by the Bully guys and heard several comments were said about us.
  • We did what it took to race a full pass, the track told us point blank we couldn't run faster than 10.0. We could have won the finals with a 14 pass but we wanted to show the other attending the nats a fast run.
Ideally the smack talk would have never existed everybody could have had a great time, share tips, tricks, etc. I would have gladly offered my help, as would Robert. We were both impressed with the other trucks build and know it has the capability. When someone or his friends talk smack about it before an event and cause so much drama it doesn't invoke a lot of good moods, sharing, and fun for anybody.

Nats is for fun. Come on the winning amount was $200. Yehaw we are rich. That probably paid for .0001% of the trips expense.
