Re: rotating tires

On a Sy/Ty you have rotate the tires on rims. Due to that front and rear rim have different offsets. YOu can't rotate the front wheels to rear and vice versa, you have to take the tires off the rims to rotate.

Uh I don't think you understand ... rims have different offset front and rear because that's the what the truck requires for the front axle and rear axle.. If you want a rim to fit correctly for our trucks then a different offset is required if you want the rim to sit flush correctly with the bodyline... regardless of the wheel manufacturer...

best bet is to give this a quick read...

I just did mine last weekend. Go ahead and try to cross them. You might like the way it looks.

Seriously, if you have directional tires you need a tire changer and wheel balancer to rotate.

What Chris is saying is he has aftermarket rims. Chris, check and see if they have different offsets front to rear. If they don't you can rotate them.

What they said. The front and rear axles are different widths, so the wheels have different offsets. The distance from the mounting surface to the front of the wheel is about 1" different between the fronts and rears. If you have stock wheels, or aftermarket wheels with SyTy offsets, you CAN'T put the rear wheels on the front and vice versa (without it looking funny). You have to take the tires off the wheels, and rotate the tires while leaving the wheels where they are.

If you have aftermarket wheels that are all the same, with spacers in the rear (or just left the rear wheels tucked in an inch), you can take the wheels off and rotate the whole thing.

Like TYPHOOL7 said, you're supposed to move the backs to the fronts, and the fronts to the opposite backs. If you have directional tires, you won't be able to do this without taking the tires off the wheels anyway. You could only swap the front and rear on each side.
