The tranny shifts normal when driving easy, but when I go above half throttle it doesn't do so well. The 1:2 shift is fine no matter how it's driven. The 2:3 shift will not happen unless I lift off the gas slightly, then it runs up to the 3:4 shift fine but does the same on this one too, I have to lift.
I have tried to shift it manually and no change. I just changed the filter and fluid and no change.
The only thing I have found that changes anything is the TV cable. When I got the truck it was not set properly at all. I set it by releasing the cable with the push tab then opening the throttle full letting it click into place. I have since tried to adjust it further out and in with the only change being the 1:2 shift point. With it set with the throttle open full it shifts into 2nd at 4600 rpm, moving it one click either way will change that shift point by about 200 rpm up or down depending on witch way it is adjusted. However, the other shifts remain unchanged.
I do not know the history of the tranny, whether it's been rebuilt or not, or if someone has put a shift kit in or not, etc. Other than the shift problem the tranny seems really good. It doesn't slip at all and the lock up seems normal.
I have a local shop that I trust if need be but I wanted to see if there might be an easy fix first.
