sup yall?
this week the guys at Xplicit Racing put some parts in my truck(GREAT GUYS btw).
Belltech drop leafs with JTR set back plates(3/8 inch thick) and COMPLETE frt.end.
afterwards there was a snapping noise that SOUNDED like frt.end in bumps and any acceleration. after alot of retorquing stuff and head scratching,it was found that the r/drive shaft was contacting the r/swaybar....i did a search and found no mention of anyone else having this issue. soo for the moment, the swaybar is removed. no noise.

soo,WHY ME??

i know..the Belltech r/swaybar is one of the best mods going for our bricks, but iv blown my nut on needed repairs and dont have another 200 beans for a new B/T bar right now. soo can it be the 3/8 thick setback plates drop it just enough for contact??

shes sitting nice an low with perfect wheel placement in the hole soo i dont want to remove them. but i drive aggressively and want a rear swaybar....

thoughts?

Re: Snap!

I'm not familiar with how the Belltech is setup, I did the Xtreme retrofit. Maybe you can put shims between the bushing/swaybar mount on the rear axle and if you need to, get longer endlinks. I would just try to adjust the bar first though. Goodluck,

thanks for the imput Larry. in my search i did find your post w/picture on the conversion for the zq8 bar. im hunting for a bar now. great post btw!!

i havent actually seen the point of contact with the original swaybar yet, dont know if shims would help...i cant picture the stock set up in my head(long day)..but when i pick up the truck i will start playing around with it. or ditch the stocker for the zq8 or belltech.

I am trying to picture how the rear drive shaft even comes close to the swaybar. Take a look at these pics from my install...

yea,i saw that post too in search. thats a BTech bar install, yes?
i cant find any pics.of a 'stock' set up,but i dont see how it could contact the d/s either. but...it was. they pulled out the stocker and could see where the paint/grease/dirt had been rubbed off by contact. ill know more monday. but for now,im baffled.

edit..i dont know if the combination of the locater plates(move the diff back 1 inch),the extra 3/8 drop(which dont seem like much) on top of the BT drop springs are factors...pinion angle and whatnot. i think John was just happy to locate/loose the noise. i know i was glad to hear it wasent a diff or trans noise!

Re: Snap!

If it's simple as a couple of shims, I would think your installer would be swift enough to just say " I just called to let you know there seems to be a slight clearance issued due to the set back plates (or what ever) and we need to install some spacers...... is this ok with you?" Sorry, just my customer service side coming out  .

sup JT?
John @ Xplicit is real good,if it was a matter of a couple shims,he would of shimmed it instead of pulling it out completely. he did keep me informed through out. great comms.. pinning it down was the tough part cause you could swear it was in the frt.wheels. during his inspection he found another issue that maybe the cause of the looong chased after vibration problem...that would be nice.

Ah.... not just simple shims then. Let us know what it is when you find out though (on ethe clearance and the bad vibes!). Funny that chasing on problem sometimes fixes another? Hope you get them both worked out
